A sample of my handwriting

Armenian handwriting. I am able to read Armenian printing, but the handwriting has remained mostly out of my reach. With your contribution I may eventually be able to read some family letters that are almost a century old. Once again, thanks VERY MUCH for taking the time to do that. And thanks to HyeClub Forum.

Re: Armenian Script/Handwriting
No problem mate. Can you scan these century-old letters and upload them into this thread Diranakir? I am very curious as to how the handwriting was about a 100 years ago. Of course, if you believe these letters are personal, I do not want to press you about it but if there is no problem, it would be highly appreciated and would enrich the Internet of Armenian handwriting.Originally posted by Diranakir View PostI want to express my sincere appreciation for the example provided of your

Re: Armenian Script/Handwriting
Hi Federate, I appreciate your interest and will do my best to post an example of the handwriting in the near future. It's a good idea. To my untrained eye I can tell that it is a different style of handwriting than those posted on this thread, at least in the case of certain letters. Maybe a little fancier.Originally posted by Federate View PostNo problem mate. Can you scan these century-old letters and upload them into this thread Diranakir? Re: Armenian Script/Handwriting
We have both Western Armenians and Eastern Armenians on the forum. For the orthography, i've seen members here use both but the divide is usually Hayastantsis using Soviet reform (Apeghyan) orthography and Western Armenians and Barsgahyes using Mashdotsian (Traditional) orthography. I know how to use both but I prefer to use traditional, though when one masters traditional it does not take much to learn the reformed one.Originally posted by levon View PostDoes everyone here use the Western Dialect/Alphabet?Azerbaboon: 9.000 Google hits and counting!

Re: Armenian Script/Handwriting
Katy jan, Է is used for the eh sounds like in Arinberd, but NEVER use in the middle of a word, only for the start (en Espaņol como este),Originally posted by katy18 View PostHelloo peoplee =) I am just learning the letters :$
I have doubts about those differents mm "E" I mean the letter number 5, 7 and 8 :S Where should I use each of them?? All of them are E..
Thankss!! ^^
Ե is used for Ye in the beginning of a word (Yev meaning And) or for E in another place.
The other one, is written as E but it's actually an uh sound, like enker, so enker is then ընկեր. The schwa is used like that.
Hope that helps you
