  • Help with writing an Armenian name in Armenian

I would be most grateful for any assistance that might be rendered towards helping me find out how to write an Armenian name in Armenian. The name I am trying to spell is Kazarian. I don't know if it makes a difference but it would be with the Western Alphabet.

Once I discover how to write that in Armenian, I would like to find a script or somewhat ornamental (some type of calligraphy) way to write it.

I am involved in an art project and would appreciate a little help if possible.

Can the folks here help me with that?

It would either be Գազարեան or Քազարեան. Perhaps someone more familiar with this name will chime in.
We can help you with the script as well once we figure out the spelling.

In the meantime here's a thread about that...

Thank you for the prompt reply. The first letter is very critical due to the nature of the project. I look forward to any help that others may provide.

If you are Eastern Armenian go with Կազարեան. If you are Western Armenian, go with Քազարեան.

Kazarian seems to be a distortion of Ghazarian which is written as Ղազարեան.

Dear Fed jan, I just wish to thank you again, because if it wasn't for you I still wouldn't be able to write my Armenian fonts in here. Thanks again for showing me the way.

Thank you Fed. It is definitely Western. What I know is that on the immigration papers (Application for Certificate of Arrival), it was spelled Ghazarian. When the family immigrated to the US, they couldn't write or read English, so it was written by an American immigration person - you know, they ask you what your name is and you pronounce it, and they write it the way it sounds. So I don't look at that as a credible source.

Is there any way to be sure? Kazarian is a common name in America - is it possible that they are ALL distorted?

By the way, my most humble thanks for the assistance here.

They are similar with the sekond being a courcer sound. They are also pronounced differently in western and eastern dialects.

This makes a lot of sense. Գազարեան is also a pretty funny choice as it'll make you sound like you are from a family of carrots
