Why doesn't Armenia and the diaspora adopt a common Armenian orthography either by reverting to the classical Armenian spelling in Armenia or by propagating the use of the new Armenian spelling in the diaspora?

Re: Establishing a common orthography
I think here the Armenian church is useful, in holding onto Krapar, and being an arena where both Western and Eastern Armenians can comfortably take part in linguistically. Regular church attendance is a very useful means of being exposed to the classical language, which we can easily feel unity in. Its difficulty of comprehension can be remedied overtime as the person figures more and more of it out. The church environment often offers the luxury of being able to meet more Armenians who speak a different dialect from your own, and I think this is just what we need, of course with a welcoming attitude on our parts.

Re: Establishing a common orthography
A take-over of Prada by Vuitton appears unlikely at this point. The solution to explore could be a third way, I'm thinking about Hermès, (all the more that we have Véronique Nichanian, Karen Petrossian...) But we need more active proselytizing to fight off the various heresies being spread. Or maybe accept unity in diversity?Last edited by gkv; 08-27-2010, 09:05 AM.
