on the other ends, sure there are more my brother's been working more with automotives lately. i meant factory as in the assembly. totally forgot factory is one of those words that also includes logistics, maintenance, and all sorts of other departments.

a small percent could be contributed to that reason. most are because $$ is losing value and getting less of it so need to downsize to cover costs too.

not necessarily than needed, but a lot of houses were foreclosed and people kicked out of their homes because couldn't afford to make the payments.

true there are more vehicles than necessary technically, but the average american keeps their car three years before they opt to get a new one. (ever wondered why a lease on a car is 3 years? now you know)

It has been said that women in the frontlines (Nurses, Medics) keep men from turning into animals.

In regards to a all women Brigade I say that is going too far.........not to mention the enemy would love that.

Sorry to say and it might be a shock, numbers are easy to "fix"

Society has to cater to to majority, which means minor problems may often be overlooked for the greater good. For that reason alone, generalizations are necessary as there is
a special case for every situation. Don't they teach you that at wherever you're being trained to be a feminazi agent?
Feminnazi agent. What the hell is wrong with you Levon? Can you have one mature conversation? It tells a lot about a person's intellect when they are in every other sentence trying to defame the other person with such labels. Please grow up.

No, the workplace isn't a place that's supposed to cater to women with families. It isn't a place that's supposed to care about women personal and family situations. If a worker cannot perform required duties, be it man or woman, then he or she should find another job. Simple as that.
Okay, has nothing to do with what I said. Please read more carefully. All I was saying is that there are circumstances where women have to work even when they have a family. It's more ideal for the women to raise her kids, but there are times that it's not possible to do that and they have to work.

I'm expected to do everything. I am a "bread winner" for my family. Thus, I satisfy the demands of the family, which includes having to work.

Actually, a work place does. The dangerous line is that if they don't, their workers will leave. If no workers, no job gets done - business fails.

In society, it's usually females given leniency because that's what's expected for her priority -- and as poor KanadaHye is experiencing, because he's a man he's expected to fulfill his role: work more b/c the job needs to get done.

@Yedtarts: no darling, I'm smarter than that :P I can even blame myself for my own mistakes IMO xxxxxxxness makes no distinction of gender, race, etc. As we use to say, "the mother of the fools is always pregnant" (she for real is!)

@KanadaHye: a pickle factory, logistics. I was member of a cooperative - actually a sort of Manpower, Inc. disguised as a co-op - that ran all the operations in the factory's warehouse... from loading/unloading trucks (often manually, I swear) to cleaning machinery and toilets.

@levon: never asked for special treatment. My co-workers respected me because I worked hard and didn't whine about my ruined nail polish (I don't use it). Sorry, but maybe you're the one in need for special treatment.

My brother's a mechanical engineer. Females get paid less than him. Not b/c they're less qualified, but because men are still considered the 'logical ones'. and females 'emotional-driven.'

A male supermodel gets paid less because the audience is mostly male-orientated. at the superbowl, what kind of commercials are shown? don't even get me started on the cheerleaders same in that society. females are chosen b/c a) many men who look at them will buy posters of them; and b) the fashion industry is also catered towards women b/c they're the ones expected to go shopping and wasting money on clothes and xxxelry.

factory workers make the same, but notice how few females there are. it depends on what kind of factory you might argue. sure, automotive vs clothing. overall, automotive factory workers make more than clothing factory workers. why? because automotive is considered "more difficult" than clothing.

the propaganda is the same b/c the demographics to which these industries cater to are still majoritively the same. though yourself and many other users here are beyond that on your personal level -- it's undeniable that the "status quo" is still being supported (whether by choice or b/c there's not enough opposition to change it).

Congratulations. Now have yourself a sex-change operation and call yourself a man (and be proud). Oh wait, if you do that, you can't ask for special
treatment and xxxxx about how the world is so stacked up against women, and you obviously can't be proud of doing what most men HAVE to do most of their lives (and HAVE BEEN doing so long as civilization existed).

The thing is when 2 people begin a family with kids and everything, sometimes both cannot support the family, and thus the women is forced to work (I mean what else are they supposed to do?) Now, if women wants to work for the heck of it and not raise her kids that's another story as women as responsibility to raise her kids and make a comfortable home environment, but unfortunately this isn't the case always and we just cannot generalise for the whole population, some times women are forced to raise their children alone, it happens, and thus they have to work. So yes I be there will be unfair moments in the workplace as a result, but keep in mind the circumstances that can affect families and women, it's not always that they don't care about their kids and just want to be independent and have a career.
