Re: What is the star/asterik in the river thing called again?
If it were a natural feature it would be called a "sump hole", I don't know whether the same term is used for the artificial ones that are part of dams. In a dam, another term for it is a bell-mouth spillway (so the one in the the photo is maybe a "star-mouth spillway"). And another is a "glory hole": http://www.trophybassonly.com/id56.htm - I wonder about the origin of that term, quite a lot of construction terms do allude to sexual acts though it seems that a "glory hole" is also one of three specialty furnaces used by glassblowers and so it might come from that and probably predates that, erm, other sort of place for blowing.Originally posted by ara87 View Postlol guys, but seriously do either of you know the name?Last edited by bell-the-cat; 01-22-2012, 06:22 PM.Plenipotentiary meow!
