  • Artsakh Recognition - more can be done

I am sure you all heard about Australia's largest state New South Wales recognition of Artsakh, so congrats, that's a good start.

but I am concerned about the inactivity of our government in achieving recognition of Artsakh. many latin states has voiced their readiness to recognize Artsakh such as Uruguay, and the neighboring countries...

    http://www.panorama.am/en/politics/2.../26/hraparak1/

the most frustrating part in that article is where it says: "The paper notes that Uruguay has long been ready to recognize NKR, but was hindered by Russia and the United States."

what is worth mentioning is that Azeri media such as www.news.az has voiced serious concerns about possible recognition of Artsakh by Latin countries, they even called for opening of embassies in these countries to prevent the recognition and protect their interest, so what is the RA government is waiting for? Don't tell me because the peace talks, the peace talks are supposed to achieve recognition of Artsakh.

Russia not wanting to solve this? I don't understand those Russians, does not a stronger Armenia mean a stronger Russia? everyone should know that Russia needs Armenia as much as Armenia needs Russia, some pressure from our side should be made on Russia to solve critical issues such as Artsakh issue...

Russia does not want any strong state near its borders and this applies to Armenia as well. Russias policy is to keep its neighbors weak and dependent. Armenia needs Russia much more then Russia needs Armenia. The assumptions you make are invalid.

This is good but doesn't in anyway bring Artsakh issue closer to peace.

peace? you really think we can have peace with Azeris? it's none-sense, I engage with those people almost everyday on a site for learning languages and they are spreading hatred and lies everywhere on that site. this is just on virtual level, you saw what happened on real life level.

What I mean is that this recognition is good PR for us, but doesn't add to NKR having a final status. The status quo is good for now, but the Karabakh people deserve to have a legal status as an independent state rather than living in unrecognised state forever.

I don't think we can have peace with Azeris or Turks. It's hard to be on normal terms with an uncivilized, fascist people.

totally agree except for the status quo being good, I am dissatisfied with the fact that young soldiers die at the border as a result of ceasefire violation by Azerbaijan, Armenian side should bomb the hell out of the position where they get fired at from, this will make Azeris think hardly before considering shooting at our soldiers.

this whole recognition process is a cover for international requirements , we all know once recognized, Artsakh merging with the motherland is inevitable.

My yardstick for the recognition of independence for Artsakh is Akbazia.

I do not believe Artsakh will become independent before Akbazia simply because of the strategic capabilities of each combatant pair.

Yeah the ceasefire violations show the effects of Karabakh not having final status. It's hard living and not knowing when the enemy might attack or fire on you. Azeris won't ever agree to Artsakh independence, so the only way we can really achieve it is to crush them a second time if they attack.

Of course. Artsakh really is just another Armenian province. Of course it can't be portrayed as such.

As long as Armenians hold the ground who gives a damn if others don't recognize it.....Its ours!!

I have a feeling if Artsakh gets attacked by Azeris then Armenia will recognize Artsakh as its integral part, send troops and then try to get the Russians involved per CSTO as well. .

Off course Artsakh IS an independent state.

                    What I meant recognised state.
