I see a contradiction here. Which may suggest that the Bible cannot be the word of God. God does not contradict Himself. Neither does He speak with a forked tongue. Men do.

It is a mistake to judge a belief system on its own terms. It is only when it clashes with other belief systems that it arouses the irrational and the crocodilian in man.

Can God speak to man?
Of course He can.
God can do anything!
But can man understand God?
Of course he cannot.
If man understood God, there would be only one God as opposed to ten thousand of them.

Yes man can understand God. The refusal of man to accept the truth is because of mans vanity. The truth is not what man seeks, but rather his preeminence.
The truth and mans glorification don't match. Hence mans refusal of the truth.
