    Re: status quo

    The 99% don’t think.
They let the 1% do the thinking for them.
Until very recently the 99% didn’t even know
    they were 99%.

    Re: status quo

One of our elder statesmen once said to me: “If
you continue to criticize our benefactors, they
may withdraw their support.” I had to explain to
him that benefactors don’t respect the opinions
of someone whose annual income is negative.

    NOTES / COMMENTS
    **************************
    One reason why some readers
    dislike what I write
    is that they have read
    very few Armenian writers
and the ones they have read
    belong to the “nightingales
    serenading the moon” type.
    *
If I am a bad writer it may be because
I say and repeat what our ablest writers
    (among them Raffi) have said
    (“where Armenian blood flows,
    search for the Armenian dagger”).
    *
Turks are not a majority even in Turkey.
    You want proof? Ask yourself:
If you had a choice between an old hag
    and a young attractive one,
    what would be your choice?

It is only when you try to change the status quo that you acquire a better understanding of the powerful forces that hold it together.

    NOT GUILTY
    ***********************************
“You have a low opinion of your fellow Armenians.”
Not all of them. I speak only of Armenians I have known and dealt with.
    *
    “You are an atheist.”
It is not the existence of God that I reject but the things that are done in His name.
    *
“You have been writing for 50years now. What have you changed?”
Nothing. But I do not consider that my fault. Communities, societies, nations, even empires, civilizations, and cultures commit suicide as surely as individuals.
    *
“How can you judge Armenians without setting foot on Armenian soil?”
The soil has never been my target.
    *
    “You have pro-Turkish sympathies.”
I respect all honest men regardless of nationality – and that includes Turks as well as Armenians.”

    NOTES / COMMENTS
    *********************************
If you hear an Armenian say
“I love and respect our writers,”
    ask him to name one.
    *
Again and again our enemies tried
to exterminate us and they failed.
We, however, may have better luck.
    *
There are two kinds of men:
    living cadavers and…
On second thought, I was exaggerating.
    *
When asked to name his favored writer,
    Donald Trump replied, “Myself.”

    MIRACLES
    *************************
    I believe in miracles
and the greatest miracle of all
is the fact that we have survived
    our blunders.
    *
    Things may improve with us
if all our organizations adopt solidarity
    as their #1 concern.
    *
You need the strength of Hercules
    to separate an Armenian
    from his favorite propaganda line.
    *
Because we have no desire to solve our problems
we call them “jagadakir “ (written on the forehead),
    that is, fate or kismet,
which, as everyone in the Middle East knows,
    is beyond human control.

we see things not as they are, but as we are. Our understanding is enhanced whenever we think against ourselves,
