    Re: status quo

What kind of men divide the nation?
    Answer :
Little men more interested in their own backyards
than in the destiny of the nation.

A nation that surrenders its mind to its political leaders might as well be brain dead. #armenians .

    Armenians!
    Who takes them seriously?
    Only themselves.
    Who cares what they think?
    No one but themselves.
Who gives a damn whether they live or die?
    Not even themselves.

    ********************************
    LINES FROM MY DIARY
    ****************************************
If patriotism didn’t work for our 1,5 million,
what makes you think it will work for you?
    *
As a nation, are we going forward or backward?
    Who cares?
    Why should I?
    *
    The Greeks had their gods.
    Americans have their Elvis.
    *
I am no longer what I used to be yesterday.
    *
If you can reduce a forgettable chapter
to a single line, you will have a better chance
of being on the right path.
    *
I spent ten years studying Armenian
and I now live on a continent
that has no use for it.
    *
Death is inevitable and the art of living consists
in learning to look forward to it

    ***********************************
    FROM MY NOTEBOOKS
    **********************************
The only valid criticism is the one in which
the critic’s first and most important target
    is himself.
    *
Ours is not just a case
of too much talk and little action
but all talk and no action.
    *
It took me many years to convince myself
that I will never be able to speak French
    like a Frenchman.
    *
    America is a great country,
    perhaps even the greatest,
    but only for Americans.
    *
To make a living as an Armenian writer?
    Don’t make me laugh.
    Dying: that’s different.

What could be more naïve for a Turk than to believe Turkish politicians on the grounds that they are Turks.
Likewise, what could be more naïve for an Armenian to believe Armenian politicians on the grounds that
if they are Armenians they must be honest.

Who took Muslims seriously in the 19th century?
Things began to change when the world realized
    where there are Muslims
    there is oil.
