    ON THE POSITIVE SIDE...
    **********************************
    We don't need enemies;
    we have one another.
    *
    In our environment, subservience means
not only kissing ass but also declaring publicly
    it smells like roses.
    *
Not just 600 years of subservience
    but subservience to Turks:
    a noteworthy distinction.
    *
    If an Armenian among Armenians,
you can survive without kissing ass,
you deserve an entry in WHO'S WHO.
    *
    In a corrupt environment
    pimps outnumber xxxxxs.
    *
If an Armenian is not after a benefactor's money
he will be after a woman's ass.
    *
    We survived bodily, yes,
    but in every other respect
we might as well be dead, buried,
    and rotten.

              Armenians!
              Who takes them seriously?
              Only themselves.
              Who cares what they think?
              No one but themselves.
Who gives a damn whether they live or die?
              Not even themselves.

In his biography of John Cheever, Blake Bailey mentions “an Armenian named Harout,” who introduces himself as an “architect” but is identified as an “unemployed waiter, a bore,” and a freeloader. See CHEEVER: A LIFE (New York, 2009, page 439).

Man's original sin is not tasting the fruit from the tree of knowledge but saying “Yes, sir!” not only to God (as Abraham did when ordered to cut his son's throat) but also to any impostor who speaks in His name.

                      CONFESSIONS OFA FAILURE
                      **************************************
The reason I am classified as a failure
is that I write about Armenians
and nobody gives a damn about Armenians,
                      not even Armenians.
And if you say Saroyan wrote about Armenians
and he was not a failure, I’ll say,
Saroyan did not write about Armenians,
                      he invented them.
He invented them as surely as Kazantzakis
                      invented Zorba,
                      Cervantes invented the Don,
                      and Shakespeare invented Hamlet.
                      *
Have you ever heard anyone say
I visited Greece, Spain or Denmark
and met three Zorbas, two Dons,
                      and four Hamlets?
