    Re: crackpots

Wednesday, January 04, 2017******************************** PHILOSOPHERS***************************** “August Comte was half genius, half crackpot.” My guess: genius in his own eyes, crackpot in the eyes of his critics.Moral: Never trust your own judgment of yourself.*At the turn of the last century, even after repeated massacres, we were successful in convincing ourselves Turks were not a problem.*Heidegger, in the eyes of some, the most influential philosopher of the 20th century became a disciple of Hitler.*"We need solutions to our problems."I have never heard an honest Armenian say that.*In a history of philosophy: “The Dark Ages lasted 600 years.” A coincidence?#

    NOTES / COMMENTS
    **********************************
    About Turks, the question is:
    “Were we blind?”
    *
Empires and civilizations are created by barbarians
    who after committing genocide, say,
    “What genocide?”
    *
Where there is power, there will be a lie:
the greater the power, the bigger the lie.”
    *
Politicians: Because all nations have them,
they are not called criminals but legislators.
    *
The ultimate aim of all organized belief systems
    is to justify indiscriminate slaughter.
    *
If you kill in the name of god,
    it’s not murder.

Our bishops represent the Almighty, our benefactors represent another Almighty, and our bosses represent their respective little mafias. Who represents the people? The voice of the people continues to be an absent factor in our collective existence.

    NOTES / COMMENTS
    *************************
If you are an honest man
you will make a thousand enemies
and a single friend and that single friend
will pretend he doesn’t know you.
    *
You want to know what I really think
    of my fellow Armenians?
A gentle reader once called me
    “Son of a Turkish xxxxx.”
    That’s what I think.
    *
If an Armenian corrects your spelling,
forever after he will operate on the assumption
    he knows better.
    *
All wars are based on the unspoken dictum
    “Your death is my life.”
    *
    It is written:
“God doesn’t have to exist in order to rule.”
    *
Flattery and analysis are mutually exclusive concepts.
    *
Doubt is more fruitful than certainty.

Since neither of us is stupid or arrogant enough
to assert infallibility, let us proceed from the assumption
    we may be both wrong.

To hate is human. But to preach, promote, and
legitimize hatred is something else. The
difference between one and the other is as vast
as that which exists between wishing someone dead
    and killing him.

    ENIGMA VARIATIONS
    *************************
To be an Armenian writer is not a capital offense
but it is treated as one by Armenians.
    *
An Armenian is another Armenian’s Turk
    *
    Like the rest of mankind
an Armenian is born in an imperfect world
    to imperfect parents,
    educated by imperfect teachers
and lives among less than perfect men.
    *
    It has been said:
    “An Armenian is an enigma
    that refuses to be solved.”
You may now consider my words
as a small step in the right direction.

    ON THE UNKNOWN
    AND THE INCOMPREHENSIBLE
    ***********************************************
Cain and Abel are not brothers.
    They are states of mind.
    *
    After having a mystical experience
St. Thomas Aquinas is quoted as having said:
“Everything I have written is garbage.”
    *
    There are many gods
(some say ten thousand of them).
The god of priests and imams
    is only one of them.
    *
When told many Christians don’t believe
in the god of priests, the Pope is quoted as having said:
“That’s good because I don’t believe in him either.”
    *
    Explaining god is a racket
    like any other racket.
    *
To deny the existence of god
is like denying the existence of the shadow
    of a non-existent black hat
    in a dark room.
