I dont see which parts were "full of xxxx." Since 80% of our race lives outside of the U.S, I'd say about 70% of that 80% can't read and write in Armenian. So more than half of the Armenian race can't read and write in Armenian. Don't you think thats kind of pathetic/genocidal?

Well, I said 80% of the Armenian ethnicity lives outside of the republic (which is a fact). Than, from personal experience, I have seen that ALL of my diasporian friends can not read and write in Armenian. Some tried to learn it at church, but forgot it after dropping out of church classes. I made an assumption that 70% OF that 80% (or atleast half of that 80%) - can not read and write in Armenian.

TomServo (I think) - said that it's the OTHER way around. As in , 70% of the Armenians in the republic can't read/write in Armenian. I just wanted to double check to see if thats what he meant - before I called him a Turk.

How much of the book is personal stories and how much of it is government documents?

None of it is personal stories, and none of it is government documents. His is one of those books that is cobbled together by taking excerpts from lots of other books. I doubt if Balakian knows what source material is - he certainly has never made any effort to look for it. His non-fiction is a bad as his miserable poetry. Leave this silly amateurish book on the shop shelf and go get the information from the many readily available books that Balakian used, or, where possible, go explore the original documents.

Anyway, that fool doesnt read and write in Armenian, nor does he speak it, nor did he marry an Armenian girl.

I had hoped that your characterising of Balakian as a "disgrace" was something to do with his slight intellect, or his arrogance, or the low quality of his work. But it seem not - all those defects can be overlooked if only he spoke the right language and married the right race.
