    why did they choose such a small room? i (and at least another hundred people) had to stand outside and listen through the open doors (or stand/sit on the steps)...

        I was standing outside too. I don't think they anticipated that many people to show up. I don't think it was like this last time. I guess next time they will learn. But in all fairness, they did open the room next door eventually.
