  • My hometown.

I was born in Ardahan, a province in the most north eastern part of Türkiye. (Eastern Anatolia). I don't know if you people ever noticed but there's a natural and astonishing event that takes place each year during summer (june-july). A silhouette / shadow which resembles Atatürk appears on the plains during that period and that event / phenomenon is celebrated as a festival called "Atatürk'ün izinde-gölgesinde Damal şenlikleri".
    Here are some pictures:

    Interesting, isn't it?

Ataturk tried to make Turkey more like the Christian West, and less like the traditional Turkey.

Why do you guys like him so much?

You don't know anything about him if you say that. Please do not talk about him in the future. I'm translating a long article about Atatürk to English, I'll post it as soon as I finish; you'll be able to know why we Turks and the whole world admire him.

Like who? Other than Turks, name 17 examples.

I really like that picture. I especially like how the evil shadow of Ataturk lurks over that single lonley cross on the bottom. It is very symbolic. But the cross still stands!

Damn he has a big nose. Are you sure he wasn't of Armenian descent?

            You sure are eagle eyed.
But that cross doesn't seem to be a "christian cross", that's impossible since the village is 100% muslim.

thats like those psychological tests where the doctor asks what do you see?

It's always just a blob of paint, always, but different people see different things. For example, I see a shadow that if I were to acknowledge as face looking. I would say it has its head thrust forward, a lot like that evil mongolian from Mulan, the way he always has his head thrust forward.

oh yeah and he looks like he's developing a bit of a goiter neck there. You should get that checked out.
