Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Goddamn, you're totally missing the point. I am the only one in the family that I know has made a true effort to learn about his culture. I am the one who has to yell at my fathers denouncing of his people, I'm the one who explains things I've learned from resources such as this site to my mother's family. I'm actively relearning my language, reading all the articles that the intellectuals on this site can provide about my heritage and people, and then you give me this kind of xxxx?

I never met Any Armenians. Everyone in my family is married to J ewss. I thought Armenian was a form of being a J ew for a long time.
People say what are you? I say Armenian they say whats that?
They have made fun of my looks. Dark eyes, pale skin.

I have met Armenians at a club-they were so nasty and told me i cant be Armenian because i look too white.

I remember when i was 10, my mom gave me a book that said "I am Armenian"
i ripped it up into pieces
I just hate it. I wish I was Italian, Greek, I hate being Armenian. Its awful
Holy xxxx...you make me sick! Stop wallowing in self pity. You remind me of the trash people who star on MTV reality shows...petty, selfish, ignorant and sad. Are you pubesent? That would explain a lot. Otherwise, get your head out of your ass and get over yourself!

This goes for you too, hellenized persian.

Re: Do you wish you were not Armenian?

This is a biproduct of assimilation - people who have given into the more seducing local culture.

But he's probably just a Turk thinking he can trick us all with this bullxxxx. I say we stick a pineapple up his ass.

            edit: Maybe he's just ugly?

Well, he commonly calls us horsethieves (especially the hayastantsi), says we deserved the genocide for standing up to the Turks (he is also a bolsahye by birth, yet his mother never bought those stupid Turkish lies, as she came from Bitlis). Just like many of the Armenians in this thread, my father went to public schools (when he came to Canada) where no one knew about Armenians, but since he had a fair complexion and blue eyes, he had an easy time assimilating with them anyway. My father could pass for any type of European except a Nordic looking one, as his father's Swiss genes could not eliminate the fact that he has a large Dinaric type nose.

So he found it easy to distance himself from Armenians in terms of the way many of them look, and got a chance to criticize the way they look: "That thieverish and unruly look".

Although he got to be assimilated during highschool, when college time arrived, he found himself among Armenians once again. He made friends with some he still laughs about today for the stupidities he used to do with them, but he resents them for "luring" him to play cards and fool around instead of going to class. I don't blame him, he spent 5 years in Cegep because of those stupidites when he could've been out in 2, and go straight to University (in Quebec, Cegep is an intermediary school between highschools and Colleges, which we call exclusively, Universities). He eventually got back on track when his application to University was accepted, but he had to do the equivalent of the 2 year program he was supposed to do in Cegep in a much shorter period of time, and that made him resent those Armenians a hell of a lot.

Sorry to give you his life story, I just wanted you to see what's behind his thinking.

Other things he says include, "If three Armenians have a discussion and share the exact same outlooks and give similar answers, they'll still end up fighting for no intelligent reason."

              "Kurds, Armenians, same xxxx."

Just after the dissolution of the USSR, he was asked by someone who didn't know about Armenia, where it could be found on the globe. His reply, "Oh, you know those Baltic states, Lithuania, Estonia, etc... Yeah, you just go down, and down... and it's right there." The man replied, "Oh, yeah yeah, I gotcha." (I find this kinda funny actually).

And finally, to bash his Swiss ancestry, he says, "Thousand years of peace, and all they do is make cookoo clocks".

So when it all comes down to it, what really upsets me are his statements of how we deserved the Genocide and we should've been killed to extinction and how we are a disgraceful race. Otherwise, his statements just make me laugh.

And by intellectual people on the site, I mean those who engage in intellectual discussion and bring invaluable articles to our attention.
