Confused the hell out of me the first time I read "tkal." I thought it meant "tqel," to spit.

Also the classic: what is "knstes klres" in Western Armenian?

Why is it that time and again only Eastern Armenians get it? See Abyss's conclusion above..

It's supposed to be a joke. Instead of "leres," make "leris" and see what happens..

by the way it will be a joke only if you write it latin letters, it won't be if you write it in armenian letters

reminds of a funny episode when I was a kid. Our neighbor's mother was visiting from some village and I was helping her put her toddler grandkid to bed. I was maybe 7. Anyway, afterwards in the living room she announced "Erekhen kuunela". I remember getting red in the face and saying "Vai es inch kekhtot ban a arel erekhen". Everyone was on the floor laughing. Obviously she mean "k'nela", but that specific village accent made it sound like it did.

Hi y'all! I'm a 24 year old guy living in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I work in a call center and one day when talking to a customer on the phone the guy sitting next to me said "Look! The woman is talking to her husband in Armenian! Can we speak a language other than English or Spanish?" He started speaking Armenian and I fell in love with the language. It was "love at first hearing".

From then on I started looking for information on the internet but I haven't found many things... he gave me some lessons but that's not enough. I've learned the alphabet (?) and I'm trying to read (ha!) a book for little kids in (Western) Armenian. I have Pimsleur course as well. I want to buy the course from www.discoverarmenian.com, but I don't know if it's good. Perhaps you can check it out... or send me the torrent! ...haha... well, it's too expensive for me, it's in dollars...

Do you happen to have a (GOOD) dictionary on your computers? Where can I get information regarding the grammar of Western Armenian? And I'd like to know if this is the right place to ask questions about the language, grammar, vocabulary, things I don't understand and so on... ok?

I hope to meet many interesting people here.

Hola Daniel, have you tried visiting one of the many Armenian Churches in Buenos Aires??? (for list, check this website http://www.armeniapedia.org/index.ph...n_the_Americas)

Also, try the Union General Armenia de Beneficencia (www.ugab.org.ar) they should be able to help you.

I met an Armenian Argentinian in Buenos Aires...and if you are ever in Punta del Este, Uruguay, the AJAX hotel is owned by a wonderful Armenian Uruguayan.
