I don't see how that would change anything...if someone is Armenian, or Mexican or German and he says no i am not Armenian, or Mexican, or German, then that person has lost its place, because i think the worst that can happen to someone is when they forget their past or where they come from...its ok one day they will understand but it would be too late...because we only live once

Yesterday I wen't to Fry's Electronics to solve a refund issue. The manager was called to help me. While I was explaning the situation I noticed that his last name was Armenian, so I asked him is he was of Armenian and for my surprise he tells me: "My last name is Armenian, but I'm not Armenian, I'm Persian". I wanted to tell him that before being Persian, he is Armenian. The fact that he was born in another country doesn't mean he needs to deny his family's ancestry...after all, I'm sure that if the genocide didn't happen, he would have probably been born in Armenia, just like most of us. I was really upset with his reply, but I couldn't say anything because he wasn't really willing to help me with my problem and I didn't want to make things worse...

So what are your thoughts about it?

I honestly do not understand this situation, was he muslem?? was he christian? if he says he is persian then he is not christian! I am armenian born and raised in Iran, but I am ARMENIAN, we never say we are persian, yeah we sometimes say we are Armenian from iran, but that I had never heard before!

How young was he? If he was still young and unlearned, he could simply be under the wrong impression, passed to him by his parents. There was a girl in my college whose parents were from Iran with the last name Alaverdian. And she was Christian. I told her to go back and ask her parents about her Armenian roots several times and each time she told me her family told her there were no Armenian roots. I told her that Alaverdi is a region of Armenia and several famous Armenians have been Alaverdians and other Christian Iranians don't have such last names. Anyways, I gave up on this poor person whose parents are the real culprits. I told her I thought they were ridiculous and we never spoke again. Who knows maybe later on in life she'll find out the trooth.

I had a friend last names Alahverdi, they were armenian christian! I new her and her family they speak, read and write armenian! and they never denied it, I actully never met an armenian denying the fact they are armenian!
Unless, they father is armenian and they mother is not armenian and that case usually the mother is the influence since they spend more time with the child, so the child ends up not learning armenian and denying the fact that they are part armenian! sad!

about a year ago I was at a friends party, met this guy we were talking, I asked him what nationality he was, he said He is half Lebanese, I asked what the other half is he said
"oh, you wouldn't know" so I kept asking him, he said "Armenian, but it's ok if you don't know, it's not like THEY have a country" I was so upset, ended up having this huge argument with him. Told him he is as much an Armenian as he is Lebanese and he should learn about who he is etc. He told me he was too busy reading school books to read about Armenian history. I was so mad. funnily enough he never spoke to me after that hahaha, my mate told me if I was in a cartoont here'd be smoke coming out my ears. But yea wasn't impressed.

Heck even "persian" ends in -ian.
