I agree I am proud of my heritage, most people in NY, when i tell them have nothing but nice things to say and no one has ever been racist to me because of being Armenian, except one time in my grade school, my j ewish teacher called me bad tempered armenian. i was only 11
But the people in LA think different about Armenians

It is primarily due to the poor discipline and education you receive from your MaMas…

Bullies, thugs and hoodlums exist elsewhere as well as among Armenians but it's got absolutely nothing to do with me not being proud of my heritage.

Im Armenian from Westchester NY, I grew up being the only non armenian, knew nothing about armenians. had a friend in college from LA who invited me out there. I told him im Armenian and his jaw dropped, told me i dont look and act Armenian at all. He lived near Glendale, he took me there and it was sad to see my race acting like a bunch of hoodlums, wanna be african americans. Then I understood why he said that to me..
Its really ashame that the new generation of Armenians ruined the reputation of Armenian Americans. All the Armenians who came to America after the genocide were regarded in high respect and they built their careers, their sons and daughters educated themselves and have good jobs, their grandchildren also educated themselves and became successful, I am the grandchild of a genocide survivor who came to America in 1915.
Sorry but the Armenians who came her in the 80s, 90s, and now have ruined Armenians reputation. People think of Armenians now and they think of them as gangsta, wanna be thugs, who sell drugs, live on welfare, and deny being white as well.
Just the truth.

As I see it, Armenians that live in Los Angeles lets say dress & act like there "wanna be" african americans. So in reality alot of people that I have run into say there Armenian when you ask them in private but in public when there with there friends they want to be another race... (look at the teenagers these days) & if you think about it people that live in America have to call themselves American/Armenian. (How many teenagers/adults you hear speak Armenian, the major language is English).

I have family members who are half xxx ish and they discredit their Armenian heritage even though their 50% Armenian. They follow xxx ish relegion, have all xxxish friends. And have non Armenian last names.
Its sad.

They are xxx's the rest of us are Armenians.
