When to go to Armenia?

Barev engerner! I'm finally going to Armenia (fingers crossed ). I'm trying to plan for it this year... When's the best time of year to go? When's the spring/summer cutoff for enjoying the freshest and yummiest fruit?

I would say May-June, the weather is mild, apricot season, maybe cheaper aeroplane tickets. Will this be your first time going to Armenia?

You are not just going for the fruit I hope!

Might depend on where you are planning to go. June will be best for apricots but it is often very hot in the Yerevan plain, and May will still be very chilly in some parts of Armenia and too early for apricots.

Only like 95% for the fruit.

So the choice is fruit, particularly apricots, or less heat? I'm from LA though... How hot are we talking about for June?

when i was there in june, the heat started after mid of june, up to 30C.

June's good and head up to the higher ground or if you can wait, September is best.

There's still plenty of fruit, great evenings and for sentimental reasons.....my children were baptised at Geghard in September!

I think I'm leaning toward June because that seems to work better for scheduling. It looks like it's not too too hot then (highs between 80-90?).

Ah, I see. I've heard that September is one of the most expensive times. That makes me think, you're likely not the only one who likes to go then?


Is it safe in and around Yerevan for a woman to go running alone in the early a.m. ? That's another question, actually. When does the street traffic begin?

Yes, it is safe to go running, especially in Kentron. Yerevan is quite safe and in comparison to world cities is much safer than one would expect given all of Armenia's socio-economic issues. You will get looks from people because it is not common for people to go running in the streets of Yerevan. Traffic starts around 9, a little later on weekends. If you want a nice and wooded area, but not too deserted, go to the park at Monument and run there.

April-June is the best time to go if fruits are what you are wanting to taste. The weather in Yerevan is not bad yet either, and it doesn't rain too much. August is the most expensive time to travel, period. September isn't all that expensive in comparison.
