And I think Bad-planned buildings are not the only reason of İzmir(Smyrna)'s ugliness now.The main reason is Turks destruction on Minorities' buildings.Because when they see a builiding not belonging them,they don't protect them in addition they destroy them.(usually).They say usually 'These aren't ours so they aren't important'.I always hear this sentence.
And if you visit İzmir,you will see a lot of ruined konaks which become homeless people's home.

Just take a visit to the historic buildings that were built by Turks.
Please tell me how many of them are taken care of properly and in good condition,or what percentage left.
Take a visit in a sunny Izmir springday sometime next month.
I know such historic buildings in Istanbul, that historic Istanbul houses are in terrible condition. Just the very large and important ones are in good condition.
Would you see any historic homes kept in Uskudar? Or how many? Go to Kadikoy. I think only cengelkoy is kind of in better conditions, but the rest is horrible. Around 100 historic buildings including small caravansaries and small mosques, totally disappeared in Eminonu Peninsula. This is right next door of Topkapi Palace.
Please do me a favor and takea look at those historic houses, I mean the ones that are still standing! Maybe 90% of such houses are gone!
Look at the Suleymaniye houses, they were supposed to be under protection, please take a look at those when you go to Istanbul.
YOu miss the point that those people Turks and Greeks lived togather in Izmir for centuries and nothing had happened until the day they tried to occupy Anatolia. Thats the British strategy to saw seeds of hatred in the lands that they want to control. Thats what happened. You miss the bigger picture.

"All truth passes through three stages:
First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident."
