  • Iranian Authorities Do Not Permit Armenians To Organize Procession To Turkish Embassy

IRANIAN AUTHORITIES THIS YEAR ALSO DO NOT PERMIT ARMENIANS TO ORGANIZE PROCESSION TO TURKISH EMBASSY

    Noyan Tapan
    April 28, 2008

TEHRAN, APRIL 28, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. A holy liturgy was
served on April 24 in the Saint Sargis Church in the capital city of
    Iran, Tehran.

At the end of the liturgy representatives of the local Armenian
community laid flowers to the memorial of victims of Armenian Genocide
of 1915 in the church yard.

As the Zaman daily reports, this year, either, representatives of
Iranian Armenian community were not permitted to organize a procession
towards the Embassy of Turkey in Iran.

It should be mentioned that on April 24, 2007 the Iranian Armenian
community was not allowed to organize a procession, either.

What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

My goal is to document and inform.
Was it harmful? I don't think that it could have been harmful as - on the subject - Iran is not a "battlefield" of importance, and its stance is of no/little - geopolitical - significance. At this point, the relevant/active battlefields are: The US, the EU and, maybe, the Jewish community i.e. Israel/Diaspora.

Thanks for the clarification, that's what I understood, the first time....and I meant that, no matter what it means, we should not care - or it doesn't matter, as Iran's stance on the subject is of little/no significance/relevance

Quoted from some other thread but it seems quite appropriate here in regards to what the Armenians in Iran got from the officials.
            this post = teh win.

              This is a skewed statement.

That's why I qualified it with the explicit clarification that the quotes are from a different thread. But Armenian's posted picture fits here beautifully, in my opinion of course

                  Typical Turkish disinformation.

About 20 years ago or so, the Turkish պէտքարան was in downtown Tehran, not so far from Naderi Avenue where in one of its streets the Sourb Astvatzatzin church is located, a quarter where until some 30 or 40 years ago many Armenians lived. So every now and then it happened that we also headed towards the Turkish պէտքարան as well in those days.

While the procession was permitted once every couple of years or so after the revolution, this time because of Ahmadinejad's bigotry it was not allowed for the second consecutive year. Usually the procession starts from Sourb Sarkiss church (Tehran prelacy) and heads down to Sourb Astvatzatzin, downtown.

For some years we used to walk from Sourb Sarkiss upwards to the UN toilet, north to and not so far from the prelacy, but the traditional procession to Sourb Astvatzatzin has been revived the last couple of times processions were allowed.

Since many years the Turkish պէտքարան has been relocated to a different location to the north in Shemiranat, over 10 kilometers or more north to Sourb Sarkiss. There's no way anybody could walk that far upwards, given that Tehran is a hill like city and given there's no straight way to that toilet.

Yet another Turkish lie and fabrication.

An Iranian official acknowledged the Armenian genocide on Iran's behalf this year. http://www.panarmenian.net/news/eng/?nid=25860

Here are photos from this year's protest of the genocide in Iran. http://www.photoblog.com/zohrepix/20...cide-----.html
