About 20 years ago or so, the Turkish պէտքարան was in downtown Tehran, not so far from Naderi Avenue where in one of its streets the Sourb Astvatzatzin church is located, a quarter where until some 30 or 40 years ago many Armenians lived. So every now and then it happened that we also headed towards the Turkish պէտքարան as well in those days.

True. But I wonder why no procession was permitted from St. Sarkis to Sourp Astvatsatsin?? Was it really due to Ahmadinejad's bigotry?? Or could it be due to a fear of turning it into a huger demonstration ( at such a sensetive period of time in the country) by anti-regime poeple involved in there??

Many people just didn't show up knowing there was no procession. Personally, I was very frustrated this year...

Nothing will ever happen to the country. The anti-regime people will never dare to act in a way you describe.

Although a president in IR Iran is nothing but a stooge, I believe there are nuances however. Whether it's in Ahmadinejad's hand or it's orders from the above, it is due to this "seft kon" era, i.e. Ahmadinejad's bigotry that we didn't have a procession the last couple of years.

Compare Khatami's visit to Tzitzernakabert (in the "shol kon" era) and Ahmadinejad's fleeing from the protocol. (So much the better for Tzitzernakabert though!)
