It's for a great cause. We need every single one of your help! It's a great opportunity help your country with whatever you can. We need your support to rebuilt Artsakh! In 2004 we raised over $11.5 million during the 12-hour international broadcast event. Please participate in this years' telethon.
Yerevan, October 19, Armenpress: On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2005, Armenia Fund, Inc. along with its global affiliates will again reach out to millions of viewers in the United States and around the world and ask them to participate in the 8 th Annual Armenia Fund Telethon. The live 12 hour program will originate from Los Angeles, California and will be delivered to nearly all Armenian communities across the globe via satellite and high power stations.
Over the last decade, the Armenia Fund Telethon has helped raise more than $110 million in infrastructure development assistance and humanitarian aid. Proceeds from previous Telethons have helped complete the Goris-Stepanakert Lifeline Highway, the North-South Backbone Highway in Karabakh, and other large scale infrastructure development and humanitarian programs throughout Armenia including the Gyumri earthquake zone. Every year the Telethons feature live musical performances, appeals from members of Congress, special project footages from Armenia and Karabakh, as well as guest appearances from prominent celebrities and politicians.
This year's proceeds will benefit the Redevelopment of Martakert project, the first phase of the multi-faceted, multi-level three-year program entitled Revival of Karabakh. The Martakert region is the largest province of Karabakh and has suffered the most during the 1991-1994 war with neighboring Azerbaijan. This year's project calls for the revitalization of four major sectors in the region: healthcare, drinking water distribution systems, education, and agricultural development.
