    Short term solutions

    In the short term:
Turkey should lift blockade and can and should initiate negotiation about reperations without accepting AG. Without accepting AG, Turkey can still pay reperations. Why? Because Armenians were citizens of the Ottoman Empire and Ottoman Empire was responsible of their life. AG recognition and reperations are two separate subjects and should be evaluated separately. This is my opinion. Turkey can also apologize for the Armenians whom it couldnot save their life. An offial apology would be smart. However, dont expect AG recognition and land offer, it seems impossible both in the short run and in the long run.

I do not consider recognition from turkey an important thing. When it comes to recognition, universal recognition among the civilized countries of the world will suffice.

So....in regards to Western Armenia and the Treaty of Sevres, give Armenians Western Armenia and total and complete independence, then let the politicians negotiate the reparations.

There probably would have been 70 million Armenians today had it not been for the genocide. If you look at the tremendous inventions and contributions the small population of Armenians has already contributed to the world, you get a small idea of just what turkey has robbed from the Armenian people and all of human civilization. There should be a large bulk sum paid to the new Armenian Republic and then something to Armenians who lost family, which is just about everyone.

If Turkey pays USD 3.000.00 to every Armenian in the world (ofcourse to those who can prove that their grand parents were murdered in 1915), can something change? Anger of the Armenians does it decrease? I dont think so..
You'll be surprised to see how just an official recognition would change the tension between the two nations - at least the one from our side.

I would also like to point out that we've talked about this amongst friends, and I don't have one single friend who hates Turks. The majority believe it's the government's responsibility to recognize it, and the people have nothing to do with it. Actually one of my friends was telling me how he went to a friends' family gathering and there was a Turkish couple there and he said he was scared to tell them he was Armenian. So you see, there is just as much hate from your side- or at least that's what many Armenians feel. And it's interesting, cause it's like Germans hating Jews.

No similarity whatsoever. It is entirely different. You are referring to a case that has been settled for all practical purposes, at least for the time being.

It doesn’t' matter whether or not the issue has been settled, when you look back in history, the similarity is in the fact that the Germans were responsible for the Jewish Holocaust. And Turks for the Armenian. It's like the guilty party hating on the victim's party. I never thought that would need an explanation-but you probably still won't see it.

                Turks dont hate

Turks dont hate Armenians, they rather are afraid of.It may seem unbelievable but true. None of my friends can register for this forum because they think that if they do that Armenians will find them and kill them. ASALA gave so much damage to the Armenians image that when one says `Armenian` the first thing that comes to mind is ASALA. I am sorry but it will take many years to forget about ASALA.

okay, no offense - but don't blame us for your friends' retardation.

and the fact that you are so certain that Turks don't hate Armenians but Armenians hate Turks shows how one sided your views are.

Yet another taboo / myth in Turkey?

Didn't Abdul Hamid have such a paranoia?
