Sultan Abdul Hamid not paranoid? Is that the same sultan that banned "H2O" from chemistry classes in the Ottoman empire?

I even learned that in my history class in the U.S. He was quite paranoid
General Antranik (1865-1927): “I am not a nationalist. I recognize only one nation, the nation of the oppressed.”

Never heard of that, sounds like a bogus story.

He's also known the modernizer of the Ottoman education system, he opened top quality high schools(which are even today top high schools in Turkey), and opened engineering college. He also sent lots of students to Europe mainly France, but they have returned as young Turks.

Abdulhamit was a genious politician who dealt with lots of problems internally and eexternally, including the CUP treason.

On the contrary of the popular understading he was quite tolerant to those critism, and you could find lots of other caricatures and dissident aticles published during his time.

RUDO I suggest you to read Avni Ozgurel's article published today in Radikal newspaper about him
