Dikran Kevorkian, Pastor of Kandilli Armenian Church, who took part in 7th October 2000 in the TV programme named “in a nutshell” said the following:
...With regard to assimilation, I am prepared to say this: Today, it is only in Turkey among all countries of the world that the Armenians manage to maintain their own identity. The Armenians in the diaspora abroad continue their struggle for existence by changing their names because there are efforts there to melt the Armenians in the cultural pot.
This is 24-carat bullxxxx.
I live in Iran, the ONLY country where ALL the members of the Armenian community speak the language.
I have personally met Armenians from Turkey who don't speak a word of Armenian.
I have also met Armenians in Europe who came from occupied Western Armenia where they had to live a secret life as Armenians. They pretended they were Muslims in Western Armenia , otherwise their lives would be in danger. They were practically used as slaves to Turks or Kurds. They didn't speak Armenian either (some of their children did). They had Muslim names but gave Armenian names to their children.
Four things denialist Turks do when they are confronted with facts:
I. They change the subject (e.g. they copy/paste tons of garbage to divert attention).
II. They project (e.g. they replace "Turk" with "Armenian" and vice versa and they regurgitate Armenian history).
III. They offend (e.g. they cuss, threaten and/or mock).
IV. They shut up and say nothing.

That Priest's quote was extremely idiotic. Armenians mostly adapt and do not necessarily assimilate. We have our church and our language.
General Antranik (1865-1927): “I am not a nationalist. I recognize only one nation, the nation of the oppressed.”
I ahve heard similar things from other Istanbul Armenians who even live in France.
When I have time I'll find and post them.
I remember phantom saying similar things as well, like churches in Istanbul are a lot more active an crowded compared to those in US. If Phantom reads he might want to comment on this.

Certainly Hrant Dink and other secular prominent Armenians in Turkey use it. I have posted his interviews in Turkey that he clear uses the word.
There was another priest in Istanbul, he used the G word in a program in Flash TV, Gavur actually posted about that long time ago.

Mesrob certianly has not. He could get in serious trouble if he did.
Armenians, at least the prominent ones, does not hesistate to use the G word. the difference is they dont look at the events or in general their perspective and priorities are a lot different than diaspora. .
umm strang .. TurQ I thought YOU were the one who posted Hrant Dinks interview in which he OBVIOUSLY INSISTED on the G word
They say it is unethnical to use genocide for politics. This was aired in NPR last year, Karakashliyan(Forgot her first name) a leading name in daily Agos. They called her from her office in Turkey.

yes I did thats why I say Turkey's Armenians use G word with no hesitation.
but they just dont see things the way ANCA or other groups see.
Some here insist that they(Turkey's Armenians) dont use it.
