Why did Armenia decline the Turkey's suggestion about opening the state archives?

if the Armenians are right about unproven so called genocide theory, why doesn't Armenia let the neutral historians research about it?

well, somebody has to tell the turkish officials that a neutral historian doesn't necessarily mean a genocide denier. and that somebody is... not me. not now. maybe later.

in 2005, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan suggested Armenia to open state archives and establish a neutral historians commision to research what happened in 1915 but Armenia declined this suggestion. if the Armenians are right about unproven so called genocide theory, why doesn't Armenia let the neutral historians research about it?

Various reasons why Armenian should ignore a commission:

1. In 2002 during the proceedings of the Turkish Armenian Reconciliation Commission (TARC) at the instigation of one of the Turkish members, former ambassador Gunduz Aktan, an independent legal opinion was sought from the International Center for Transitional Justice seeking an objective and independent legal analysis regarding the applicability of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide to the events in question. The ICTL opinion was essentially that the Genocide Convention could not apply retroactively (i.e. to events prior to 1951) but that the events in question would fall within the definition of genocide as: ”.. viewed collectively, can thus be said to include all of the elements of the crime of genocide as defined in the Convention, and legal scholars as well as historians, politicians, journalists and other people would be justified in continuing to so describe them”.

This third party, neutral judgement did not please the Turks. It stands to reason that any judgement they find unsatisfactory to their dogma will not please them. Knowing this, why should the Armenian side got through another study? Why should they trust that the Turks are even open to changing their dogma if yet another study came to the same conclusion?

on one had Erdogan proposes the commission while on the other hand he has repeatedly stated:

1. Turks never committed genocide
2. Turks are mentally, culturally, polictically unable to committ genocide
3. No matter what, Turkey will never recognize the genocide.

With the statements above, why should anyone waste their time on such a comission?

2. It is blocking mechanism to genocide recognition efforts and nothing more. It is to stall and confuse public opinion internationally. We see through the strategy well.

3. It is yet another condition (insult) added by Turkey towards normalization. Why is that even India and Pakistan have normal diplomatic relations and Turkey and Armenia do not. Armenia has set NO preconditions.
