Post Turkish, Armenian and Greek music in this thread!
Thanks, love that instrument but why can`t you post some links if it`s ok to ask?
I said I can't because I did not think I can find a youtube link, of course it is perfectly fine to ask Alexandros I edited the post because I found one Bacanos video on youtube.
These two names are both from Istanbul, well respected ud players of their times.
How can I forget Cem Karaca? He should be the first one to talk about in this forum.
His mother is Armenian (Toto Karaca), his father is Azeri (Mehmet Karaca) and both are actors (what a mix, right?). He became one of the most influential musicians of 70s, one of the first that defined a new genre called Anatolian rock which is basically based on Anatolian folk songs and music. He lived in exile in Germany for a while because of his socialist stand.
Below are some links of his music. I strongly recommend everyone to search for more than I posted here:
Niksar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjYhv...E168A&index=11
(Disclaimer: Guys I posted Niksar as the last one, because the video includes Turkish flag, some nationalist slogans etc. I could not find another video that has this song. So, please do not get offended and open another tab in your browser, continue what you are doing, let the video play for itself and listen to the song. A beautiful version of a folk song from the city Niksar)
