In this thread about an upcoming story on 60 minutes, there is a link to the CBS website where someone has left this comment.
Has the Turkish version of history really changed over time like this ?
1. Nothing happened in 1915
2. Something happened in 1915 but it was not a major event
3. Armenians Genocided Turks
Can anyone find quality links, preferably from Turkish sources, that proclaims the first 2 Turkish versions?
How do everyday Turks explain how the Turkish version of history has changed over time ?
In my 40 plus years I have watched as the Turks employ several different techniques to deny the truth. When I was young, the Turks claimed that the Genocide of over 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Turks did not happen at all. When it became clear that those lies weren't holding up, they altered their strategy to claim, "yes, some Armenians were killed but the numbers are exaggerated." For the past few years, though, their audacity has been simply unbelievable as they claim that it was the Armenians who in fact committed a "genocide" on the Turks.
