  • Documenting the changing Turkish version of history

In this thread about an upcoming story on 60 minutes, there is a link to the CBS website where someone has left this comment.

In my 40 plus years I have watched as the Turks employ several different techniques to deny the truth. When I was young, the Turks claimed that the Genocide of over 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Turks did not happen at all. When it became clear that those lies weren't holding up, they altered their strategy to claim, "yes, some Armenians were killed but the numbers are exaggerated." For the past few years, though, their audacity has been simply unbelievable as they claim that it was the Armenians who in fact committed a "genocide" on the Turks.

Has the Turkish version of history really changed over time like this ?
    1. Nothing happened in 1915
    2. Something happened in 1915 but it was not a major event
    3. Armenians Genocided Turks

Can anyone find quality links, preferably from Turkish sources, that proclaims the first 2 Turkish versions?

How do everyday Turks explain how the Turkish version of history has changed over time ?

Well that is incorrect, as it went like this:

    1. Turk's commit genocide
    2. Turk's admit they committed a genocide
    3. Turk's deny they committed a genocide + call victims traitors or rebels
    4. Turk's claim the victims of the genocide genocided Turk's
    ? 5. Turk's claim the world paid Armenian's to genocide Turk's
? 6. Global Armenian conspiracy (like the Global xxxish Conspiracy manufactured by Nazi Germany)
? 7. Genocide again. Let's hope they never get there....

Mukuch, to my mind it's a very important matter. If you can demonstrate to someone (Turkish or not) that the official Turkish narrative has changed from "nothing happened" to "the Armenians Genocided Turks" then alarm bells will be ringing in their heads. Such a drastic change requires a lot of explaining!!!

No need to demonstrate anyone anything. The truth is so obviuse thate just morones and hypocrits dont see it. And asking for explanation from any of this 2 categories is pointless.
