Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

[QUOTE=The Mad Turk]Yes many killings and rapes have been made by some soldiers and others but these were not organized crimes and were done by individuals and there were no dicipline in the army.İt was not Sultans order. So I think the displacement of the armenians is a great tragedy but cannot be called a genocide.however We also cannot see this as a victory.İn fact it was very immoral.QUOTE]

Yes my friend I agree with you. This so called genocide thing is just a story their grandfathers made up. If the Ottomans wanted to massacre the armenians then they would have started this right away from istanbul. Most armenians were there at this time and ottomans would have had the best opportunity to execute them.Be sure, they wouldnt even leave one armenian alive....

Look guys at this time u all know that there was a lack of security in east anatolia because ottomans were fighting in 3 different fronts as the armenians were being relocated. And they were carrying their valuables with them. This was the reasonthat attracted the bandits and because of this lots of them were killed. And u call this a genocide...

No one knows the exact number of death but a lot of armenians claim that it was between 1 - 1.5 million. OK , lets think this statement is correct for a second. Then I ask u (if u are wise armenian) where have all the corpses gone? And ur answer would probably be : '' they were buried in mass graves''. Please think for a while, that makes about 500 massgraves (3000 corpses per grave) But I havent heard anything about this. If u hear it somehow inform me about it too. I would be very excited to see or read this falsified document
You can call me a hero.

I think Turks and armenians must not argue about how many armenians were dead during the displacement or how many Turks were killed during the first rebells done by Armenians.Or if the Turks had the right to start the displacement.

The ultimate reality today is that really no Armenians left in anatolia and armenian culture in Turkey has been cleared completely. The real question is not if the things happened should be called genocide or not either.Even though not one single person in this world have the right to question us about how great defensive wars we had done against the whole world to save our mainlands with our great leader Atatürk,did we have the right to completely wash out the Armenian culture ?even if making a uniform muslim country was an important factor, even if we lost millions in the wars and deserved these lands in a maximum way,was it moral to send the elders, children walking in the cold without shelters and food. And infact they were our relatives.was it moral to burn the armenian villages or raping their women, stealing their money and properties?Even if this was happened in chaos, even if the same things were done by some Armenians (in a much smaller scale ofcourse) was it right to take the revenge in such a barbaric way?

All these things were happened long time ago.And history is full of tragedies like that. But you people didnt forget this story and made all the world learn it.This is a great success.

But diaspora's work now is finished. You cant do anything more.I am not scared from an Armenian threat against to my country any more. You have no military strength. Also it is not important today how great propaganda you make in the west against us.They dont like us anyway. So what? They will not like us some more.

But the problem is that because may be ı had a lot of contact with Armenians I can see the sadness deep in their eyes and hearts and you may believe it or not this really hurts me. and unfortunately there is no solution to this problem. We will never accept genocide, you will never forgive us and sad to say you will fool yourself by asking lands from us.This dog fight will go on one more decade. How stupid everything is...

Actually, my grandparents used to tell me about how some Kurds and other Turks, around the 1915-->11920 era, suddenly became rich, due to new farms, gold and cows etc. they "suddenly and somehow" acquired. It makes you think, Mad Turk, does it not, from whom those money-land-animals got transferred to mountain Kurds and Turks?! I am not 100% sure about the genocide level, but certainly the 1915 era smells very bad, and our government should really come up with better explanations (truth?) for what happened.
I really hate it that I am unable to offer very solid, 100% solid anwers to the armenain people here, and sometimes I also, (I think just like you), start to wonder if perhaps they are telling the TRUTH?! (It is a horrible feeling)
Let's say they are only 50% truth, then what? We still would have to do something to mend the losses of the deported Armenians?
I am really unable to do much "history-defending" here, because I am no longer so sure about our version.....

Well, trust me, we also ask ourselves this question: "If our gov't explanation is 100% watertight, then why are so many thousand people claiming otherwise, with such rigidity?" Armenians might also ask the same question. But, although I do not personally enjoy the result, logic forces one to accept that, at the very least, TR official line is short of satisfactory details. It feels like "reaction to claims", instead of well-rounded answer to straight questions.
Next to think about is, genocide, deportation, whatever the final truth is, how to MEND? True, current democratic gov't could very well say "we were not even present in early 20th century, it was the Ottoman misdeed." Then, we as current TR republic citizens would ask, "IF we choose to disassociate from past Ottoman deeds, or some of them, then why do we keep cherishing and celebrating some other chosen past Ottoman deeds?"
The crux of the matter is: "Make a logical stand, prove it if you can, then explain. If you cannot prove your stand, then you have to accept that the Armenians making the claim might very well be correct (it does not matter 100% or less correct), then start working with them to decide how to MEND.
