SECRET MESSAGES OF US STATE DEPARTMENT IN HANDS OF ARMENIAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE
Several hundred pages of documents of the US State Department, including top-secret diplomatic messages, have appeared at the disposal of ARF Armenian National Committee. Aram Hamparian, executive director of the Committee, informed Regnum agency that the documents are about the Armenian Genocide in 1915. Moreover, according to the documents, in 2000 the US State Department carried out woks on elaboration of a resolution of the Armenian Genocide. It was envisaged that the resolution would be submitted to discussion at the House of Representatives of the US Congress, but already then-president Clinton ordered to exclude the document from the agenda, explaining that the document might harm the US-Turkish relations.
A part of the documents refers to the relations of the US State Department and the Armenian-Turkish Reconciliation Committee. "The documents evidences that in autumn, 2000, the US State Department officials knew that the Turkish threat is groundless. Notwithstanding this fact, they deceived the congressmen and the American people, stating that the adoption of the resolution might harm the Turkish-American relations," Aram Hamparian said.
