What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

  • Hearings On The 15th Anniversary Of The Ethnic Cleansing Held In Nagorno-karabakh

Speaker of the NKR National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan declared today that
in April-June 1991 the authorities of Soviet Azerbaijan organized and
carried out " a cruel policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh
and adjacent territories" on the state level."

Ashot Ghulyan said this speaking at the parliamentary hearings on
"Oghak operation: The violations of Soviet Azerbaijan and Soviet Union
authorities against the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and
    adjacent territories."

Ashot Ghulyan noted that the accomplishment of these programs stalled
the nationwide struggle of the Karabakh people, which ended in the
    establishment of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

"Only establishment of statehood could resist this policy, which
resulted in the establishment of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in
    1992," the NA Speaker noted.

Head of the NKR Parliament spoke for the unification of the efforts
of state structures to collect facts of anti-Armenian policy of
Azerbaijan. He informed that an ad hoc committee will be set to
investigate the violations against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh by
authorities of Soviet and independent Azerbaijan.

Participants of the hearings characterized the "Oghak" operation as a
" terrorist act by Azerbaijan." It was noted during the hearings that
the Azeri authorities did not only refuse to take responsibility for
these actions, but also continue to speak on the language of terrorism
with Nagorno-Karabakh, threatening to resolve the Karabakh conflict
    via force.

During the "Ohak" operation 6030 people from 24 villages were
    forcefully displaced.

Nagorno-karabakh Republic’s Foreign Ministry Urges International Community

NAGORNO-KARABAKH REPUBLIC’S FOREIGN MINISTRY URGES INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO CONDEMN ARMENIAN POPULATION DEPORTATION FROM SHUSHI IN 1988

YEREVAN, May 18. /ARKA/. Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s Foreign Ministry urges international community to condemn Armenian population deportation from Shushi in 1988, the ministry said in its statement issued Wednesday.
18 years ago Armenians were driven form their homes and either Armenian pogroms in Sumgait or expulsion campaign in Shushi was orchestrated by Azerbaijani authorities, the statement said.
In its statement, Nagorno-Karabakh Foreign Ministry urges international community to recognize Azerbaijan’s responsibility for violation of its Armenian population rights and aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The ministry is convinced that this step would have a huge positive impact on the process of strengthening security and peace in the region and would bring Karabakh problem closer to its solution.
The statement also stressed that Sumgait pogroms aimed to root out Armenian population and the impunity the perpetrators enjoyed paved way for further assaults on Armenians living in Soviet Azerbaijan. M.V. -0---

Sumgayit is continuation of genocide towards Armenian nation

Sumgayit is continuation of genocide towards Armenian nation

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ “A tragedy in Sumgayit became the continuation of genocide policy in relation to Armenian people,” NKR Prime Minister Anoushavan Daniyelian stated to journalists during the events, dedicated to the 19th anniversary of Armenian massacre in Sumgayit. He said, Karabakh conflict was imposed to Armenian people at the time, when the nation was weak and has been rehabilitating from wounds. The Premier noted that Karabakh national-liberation struggle was the first response to the unjust things after the genocide relating Nagorno Karabakh people.

Answering the questions on refugee problems, the Head of Karabakh Government said, according to the decision of the government the given category of citizens is in the center of attention the executive body, and second year up compensation and dwelling have been given to refugees from Sumgayit and whole Azerbaijan. The first large program will be realized this year. “Presently 15 houses were built, which will be put in commission in the near future. “Similar programs were realized in the NKR regions as well”, - Anoushavan Daniyelian noted.

On February 27, 1988 Armenian pogroms in Azerbaijani town of Sumgayit were launched. During three days dozens of Armenians were killed, exact number of victims is still unknown. Official sources informed about 32 killed. Sumgait Events Must Be Recognised World-wide

SUMGAIT EVENTS MUST BE RECOGNISED WORLD-WIDE
        [09:18 pm] 01 March, 2007 [ http://www.a1plus.am/en/?page=issue&iid=46093 ]

The Azeris started the Sumgait events with the assassination of the Ghambaryans. 62-year-old Alexandre Ghambaryan became the first victim of the Azeris. Romik Ghambaryan, Alexandre Ghambaryan’s son, says that the other members of the family could hardly survive from the massacre.

According to the official data over 26 people died in Sumgait, whereas Mr. Ghambaryan claims that their number surpassed 100 as he can give the names of about 30 Armenian victims.

Hrayr Ulubabyan, head of the initiative protecting the rights of the Sumgait Armenians, says that corpses were lying in rows which testify that the number of murdered Armenians was greater.

The most striking is the fact that neither the international community nor Armenia has recognised the events of Sumgait as massacre.

«Azerbaijan constantly dwells on the events of Khojalu, whereas Armenia sits with crossed hands; though we have faced numerous suchlike massacres, no measures have been taken in this view» complains Mr. Ghambaryan.

Hrayr Ulubabyan says that «Azerbaijan does its best to show that Armenia is an aggressor, whereas Armenians go on international tours».

In his words, there is no need that the Sumgait events were well-planned and organised. «They wanted to silence the Karabakh issue by the Sumgait murders», he says.

In order to prevent suchlike crimes we must be «wiser and sober, we must have patriotic and powerful authorities».

To note, there were over 20 000 Armenians living in Sumgait; 4000 of them immigrated to Armenia and 4000 - to Russia. There is no data on the rest.
