WOW WOW WOW! So not only have these people created and signed this petition, but now they are even back-talking to the Prime Minister for his assinine comments. And these comments are truly amazing! So many of them show depth of real humanity, compassion and understanding for what happened. When was the last time we heard so many words like this from Turkish people, "The Armenians are one of the essential/founding elements of this land. This is why I apologize to them for this injustice they had to endure."

This is amazing, is it not!

This is making me emotional. I know some of you are going to call me naive again, but just don't write it and let me enjoy this for a while. Maybe it will lead to more good this time.

Some of the people I recognize on the list of Turkish intellectuals are heavy duty very well know journalists and columnists who also get extremely good TV coverage on panels and debates. Everybody is talking about this in Turkey right now and it sure is very exciting.

individually you may think the way you want to. so you make a calculation and say 1 million minus 50 = 950,000 people armenians.

but if you think from the mass pscology point of view, yes those 50 or so asala murders are extremely important.and a declaration by armenia republic cursing them is also needed.

if to acception of the genocide by some people like us, is enough, we need not to talk anytyhing else. if we want more people to accept the reality, if we want friendly two or three countries in this geography, yes we need some move from armenians also.

but like vahe says, if it is not much important that turkey and armenia be friends in state levels,closed borders are not vital,than its fine, we dont need any moves.

but these are politics. even if today armenians totally declare war on turkey, nothing about history can change.still we owe this apology.

I didnt say that relations with turkey is not important for Armenia. I think we must have good relations with all our neithbours and other countries. BUT! All depends what is the price of this good relations....

I see Turks love too much this ASALA subject. They are always telling the same story. Of course terrorism is bad, violence is cursed bla bla but this is a drop in the ocean.

Terror, as a term, comes from the states, not the individuals or groups.

However, their killers did not kill them because they were AG deniers (or even because they were Turks), but because they were representatives of the Turkish state. ASALA considered itself to be at war with Turkey, a state which had committeed genocide and was occupying the Armenian homeland, and so it considered Turkish diplomats to be legitimate targets. I'm not sure how much of it even had to do with AG recognition.

Saco, i am sorry but it is totally non-sense. More than 230 intellecutal, author, scientist, artist signed the petition and they are well-known for their human right and democracy struggle.
