There is a tradition of Americans being in Paris.

Have you seen the film "Charade" with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, made 50 years ago ?

Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson are the most known ones. But you also have doctors, scientists, intellectuals, writers or artists : Nathaniel Hawthhorn, Washington Irving, etc.

Of course, there are the recent ones : Hemingway, Sidnet Bechet, James Baldwin, Josephine Baker who participated in French Resistance against German occupation, Richard Wright, etc, etc.
