I thuink it's important to remember that the main culprits for the massacres in Constantinople and elsewhere were frenzied mobs of "softas" (Islamic theological students) encouraged by mullahs, so it was massacre by Muslims of Christians for religious reasons. Artashes-type racism downplays the essentially religious aspect of the (pre-1915) massacres .

The Ottoman state orchestrated the massacres. A religious war is easy and low income Moslems can be organized to carry out massacres

Hey Bell Arty is not alone in his anger-pretty much all Armenians have an axe to grind against the Turk and rightfully so. I hate racism and i know there are good and bad people in all races, sects, colors..but hate towards the Turk by an Armenian is hardly the worst offence one can be accused of..Leave Arty alone.

Virtually every turc who comes on this forum,first & foremost wants to be recognized as a fellow human.
They do not want to talk of --- THEIR --- history of INHUMANITY.
They want to distance themselves from that. They say ... We didn't do that.

The turc of today is as conniving & heartless as their grandparents & the ones before.

Turks drew the last straw on us, we stayed loyal despite our own groups of opposition to it but they were killing more than 5000 a month anyway destroying our villages and giving them to Kurds.
ordinary Turks could have been good neighbors but transformed from one order of collective into butchers of innocent and defenseless like women and children and elderly.
those boys at the bank did what had to be done as statement with options available at the time....

To Turks Islam is only a tool......it was so long before Ottomans and still is today...a tool used like a pro.

You want to bring in religion then know, as bad as some think of it, believe in it or not, in our case the Armenian Christianity, plus strong culture and will, shielded/guarded us from any type of mass assimilation......even Arabs claim Armenians are people of the book and can never be changed with a separate quarter in Jerusalem.

many leading Ottomans were not Turks, but Greeks, Serbian, Armenian, Venetian, Hungarian. The Ottoman admiral Turgut Reis was a Greek convert to Islam.

Turks were good opportunists and lack of strong culture and single objectiveness worked well against weaken civilization....funny thing is that the hardest to fully conquer and the ones who came to face you long before reaching Armenian highlands were the Armenians mixed in with Persians, the Armenians, the ones who fought many ancient battles and were eventually conquered several times long before Azena gave birth to "Turks".

It was a catastrophe. A terrible atrocity against ordinary Armenians (many of them immigrants) who had nothing to do with revolutionaries and probably didn't even know they existed!

The ottoman , seljik, or any other turc in their vast majority were literally not capable of administering anything of merit. That is why they were compelled to use the capabilities of the people that they murdered in there vastness. Those people were trapped. The convert to islam was actually not voluntary, but a necessity.
