transformers the movie when i heard about it i thaught oh great another stupid kids movie but when i saw it i was really surprised at how good a movie it was i would give it 5/5
Elizabeth (1998) 6/10
Something something - Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) is the daughter of a Protestant whore, something something - people are plotting against her, something something - she likes Lord Robert Dudley (Joseph Fiennes) but he hasn't told her that he has a wife and so she doesn't marry him, something something - she has all the traitors in her court executed and becomes a virgin. Great costumes and cinematography with good performances from Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush.
The Fly (1986) 6/10
A film by David Cronenberg about a scientist (Jeff Goldblum, who else?) who is gradually mutating into a fly because his stupid computer spliced rather than teleported him. Geena Davis is the semi-love interest and journalist. I have not seen the original, but this movie was pretty good for a remake.
Gaslight (1944) 7/10
Great Victorian mystery with Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman, as well as a young Angela Lansbury. It runs a bit too long, but is still fun to watch.
Ordinary People (1980) 5/10
Since the Academy never honored Robert Redford for his acting, they gave him the golden guy for directing this movie, which today would probably be adapted only for Lifetime television. Actually, Ordinary People won a slew of awards it didn't deserve, including Best Picture. Although Mary Tyler Moore did not win, she was nominated for playing against type as the frigid mother. "Did I take trig?" What a powerful moment. Anyway, this is a typical American melodrama about a family falling apart because of a son's death; complete with a depressed and suicidal teenager, a kind father, a cold mother who blames the surviving son, and an understanding Jewish psychiatrist. Skip it.
