One of whom not many know about, a great film director of armenian heritage, sergei paradjanov.
Atom Egoyan, Henri Verneuil (Ashot Malakian), Henrik Malyan, Rouben Mamoulian.....

I've been meaning to watch this one for some time, I hope it's as good as everyone says it is. Otherwise I shall start my own collection of CD coasters. My last disastrous purchase was "Eve's Journey", I would say that it was Creme de la creme of Armenian Crappy Cinema.

        • I hated "The Journey". I saw it at the Arpa Film Festival last year. It was awful. The lack of quality was mostly due to the very poor screenplay.

Mamoulian was nothing special. He was a standard Hollywood director. Guediguian deserves credit, though.

eh, like him or not, he's probably the one who's made the biggest name for himself.

Yes, I forgot Guedigian. Michael Poghosian apparently makes pretty good movies too, but I haven't seen any of them.

Did you happen to see "Symphony of Silence"? It was a highly acclaimed movie made by an Armenian director, whose name I forget, a year or two ago. Haven't seen it yet.

I have not seen it yet. I have been told about it and the concept has been explained to me. It has been praised.

Michael Poghosian: that is the actor in "Symphony of Silence." I do not believe he makes films.

Poghosian wrote and directed "Yerevan Jan" and wrote "Yerevan Blues".
He also sings, but I will refrain from commenting on his singing....

                    • I have never heard of these two films and IMDb does not seem to have records of them or of a Michael Poghosian as a director. Let me know where you heard of/saw these films.
