I'm not suggesting we all write several paragraphs, but to make this thread useful we need to say something about what made a movie excellent or poor. "Very retarded movie" isn't very helpful.

Personally, I liked Marley & Me. It's not a movie I'd watch if I want to see an awesome movie (artistically), but I thought it was a touching and humorous story about what it is to be a dog owner and how our pets become members of our families (naughty though they may be at times).

I think that's Pepsi's way of saying "chick flick". I certainly don't want to watch a movie and weep over a dog.

I like Woody's movies to, i think they are pretty funny. I like going to the movies but i have my head burried in my financial management book most of the time and the rare free time i do get i prefer to go icefishing. The prices we pay for going to the movies pisses me off to, i used to pay $2.00 but now you could feed your whole family fresh steak for less money then going to see a movie-its messed up. I wanted to see avatar in 3d and its like $35 bucks.

I agree, tickets are expensive but they're still a low cost for such a great form of entertainment. I've been seeing a lot of films in theaters (old/current) lately, simply because I don't want to miss them on the big screen, and luckily, they're a little cheaper in a local cinema. It's always great seeing films like Ladri di biciclette on the big screen, but I also don't want to miss some of the recent films. It's also an added bonus that I see them in class, everyday.

Sorry, I don't really watch movies much. Infact, the only movie I recognize in your last couple posts is Working Girl. However, I like some of the insight you provide if it's worth anything...

Thank you. I'd keep writing if nobody was reading them, but it's nice to hear that you guys occasionally do.

I have heard wonderful things about this film, and while watching it tonight, I knew I was in for something special. The film is beautifully put together, it is full of long, uncut takes, but there's also a reason behind the whole idea.

Michael Haneke introduces a handful of questions, but the film also seems to end with more questions than we started with. The film keeps you engaged, as we witness the torment our characters go through, and as the film progresses, we begin to piece together our ideas. Haneke, however, doesn't allow us to put them together easily. He presents endless possibilities, and in fact, nobody really knows how it ends.

On January 16, before he won the Golden Globe for The White Ribbon, he was asked about the ending of this film, for what I can presume would be the millionth time. Haneke said he wrote bits of dialogue for the two actors in the end, but decided against it and made the boys promise they would never tell. I spent an hour reading up on people's thoughts of the film, trying to solve the puzzle myself. That, in and of itself, should be a sign that a film is great, because it keeps me involved an hour (and possibly years to come) after it has ended.

My wife and i watched Avatar last night at the Imax. It really is a awsome experience. The storyline is predictable but it is the only real complaint one can make about this movie. The special effects cannot be compared to anything made before it. Most of the acting was done by computer animated characters but the humans did a good job to. Overall it was a great experience and i think it does a good job of drawing parallels to the present situation of one superpower dominating others. I strongly reccomend seeing it in 3d or imax format.

Meeting Joe Black

This movie is essentially about life and death. It's about a media tycoon, Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), who one day has a hallucination and comes into contact with Death (Brad Pitt). Death comes calling with an proposition that he'll delay Bill's passing in exchange for a tour of life. I think this is the easiest way to describe the film. Many have not enjoyed the film but it is one that I enjoy very much. It's about 3 hours long but I find the performances by the actors to be fantastic. Also, the plot is very intriguing to me.

LadySilver, I just watched The Seventh Seal again recently, and I remember you asking about the film a while ago. I don't know if your remember, but I posted another review, and I really liked it much more the second time around.

I hate that movie with a passion. I had to watch it for a religion and art class.
