Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    The Book of Eli

    9/10

Great movie. Good script but doesn't leave you with anything to think about in the end, just straight forward. What saved this movie was Denzel's acting. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes adventure and action.

Wow, the first time you told me about it, I was pleased that you didn't brush it off aside because said you'd view it again. You claimed you give films a chance and try to understand what they're about instead of throwing them away. It looks like you certainly gave up on it, because it really is a terrific film, and if I wasn't so sure why the first time, I know now.

This movie is essentially about life and death. It's about a media tycoon, Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), who one day has a hallucination and comes into contact with Death (Brad Pitt). Death comes calling with an proposition that he'll delay Bill's passing in exchange for a tour of life. I think this is the easiest way to describe the film. Many have not enjoyed the film but it is one that I enjoy very much. It's about 3 hours long but I find the performance s by the actors to be fantastic. Also, the plot is very intriguing to me.
It was just too damn slow for me. I like this scene though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gt8DUmaD-A

Edge of Darkness : Similar to Taken but less action and more talking. Expected more coming from Mel Gibson. 5.5/10 yo!

You had to watch a movie about "death" for religion and art class? Then again, if it invoked a feeling of passion within you maybe that was the whole point

I hate all movies that are about life or death or relationships or any other boring drama. I really hate romantic comedies. If it's not cleverly funny, action packed or sci-fi, I don't even bother.

The Fifth Element (1998) is still one of my favorites. Even better in HD.

I like the guy in the background with his hands on his hips and when the guy hits the ground he's like "dayummmmm" Brad Pitt should do his own stunts... that dummy is no replacement.

              It's Complicated
              3.5/5

A couple who have been divorced for 10 years start having feelings for eachother again when they reconnect at there son's college graduation.

People say it's a "Chick Flick" but it was very funny & since I like comedy it worked out fine for me. The one thing I disliked about the movie was they should put someone else in there instead of Alec Baldwin I find him very annoying.

First of all I have watched it more than once because I had to write a paper about the movie. I completely understand what it's about but it doesn't mean that I have to enjoy the movie. I'm glad you like it but it doesn't mean that I have to like it. It's called personal choice.

I didn't like it but yes I had to watch it. The movie is full of religious overtones. I appreciate it I just don't care for it.

LOL That makes me crack up. Hey....Brad Pitt doesn't need to do his own stunts....he's still nice to look at.....

After seeing The Apartment, I had to see the many collaborations of Billy Wilder and Jack Lemmon. Irma la Douce tells the story of a Paris streetwalker who meets an honest policeman. When jealousy erupts, Nestor (Jack Lemmon) does everything he possibly can to make sure Irma (Shirley MacLaine) doesn't sleep with any other men. Although at times the film comes to a rather slow hault, Lemmon and MacLaine are brilliant and have great chemistry. The two actors, including Lou Jacobi who plays the bartendar, Moustache, keep the film alive. Worth a watch but not the best work from either the director or these two brilliant actors.
I'm looking through some older reviews. I loved The Apartment. I completely agree Irma la Douce doesn't come close, but it's funny and definitely worth watching.

I had been looking for this film since last summer and finally came across it tonight. Sofie Coppola's storytelling, both as a writer and director, were very strong in Lost in Translation and I knew I would enjoy this film just as much. I hadn't read the novel, and had only heard very little about this film in general.

The Virgin Suicides, as a film, is much like I had imagined it would be. The story uncovers itself and Sofie shows you just the right amount. The audience will possibly be left full of questions, but that's clearly her intention. The pacing of the film pushes the narrative forward, and Coppola's beautiful imagery makes the perfect fantasy picture.

I truly love Sofie Coppola's directorial trademarks, and they have actually inspired my professional life as well. The time lapse scene is beautifully filmed and is one of the most inspirational ones I have seen on film. The Virgin Suicides tells an uneasy and emotionally haunting story, which is meant not to sit well with the viewer.
I know I saw and liked this a lot... But other than very basic plot, I don't remember much about it. After having seen more from Sofie Coppola, I think I should watch this again.

Woody Allen's Match Point was apparently taken directly from George Stevens' A Place in the Sun. Well, the similarities in theme and plot are all there, but there's been a few changes. Montgomery Clift is absolutely haunting with his dark demeanor and inner conflict throughout the film. The film keeps you in anticipation of what's going to happen between these characters, and ultimately leaves you with a dark conclusion. It's a great film, a classic loved by all, and is definitely is worthy of its praise.
Another to watch. I loved Match Point-- my brother made me watch it and I was not disappointed. We'll have to watch A Place in the Sun when I get back home in March.

Also, some Fellini advice please... Is it okay to start with 8 1/2 or should I see something else first?
