There are fans of Old Metal, Heavy/classic rock....and there are fans of "Numetal" . I have a respect for Old Metal and classic rock....and absolutely no respect for "Numetal". I was refering to late 80s/early 90s Black/death metal movements of greater Europe **which are still alive today**

I respect the metal ideal with the Armenian influences and i have a freind whos a bassist and good. Likes American metal to and Scandinavian and black metal etc. I'm not to big on metal but the Metalcore isn't apealing at all man what the hell i like the music which is what should count but when you bring worthless screaming i don't want to listen anymore and i could be wrong if thats what you want but you said metalcore. But my freind is a bassist so when he's getting better everyday he's leaving metal slowly and going towards jazz and funk unless you want cool slapping bass solos in the music whatever i don't know but im all for your cause. Just that i would aprreciate the music if possibly melodic Vocals where present.

if the music disturbs you, you don't have to listen. I never said it was easy to listen to. No on here is making "metalcore" and no one here is listening to "metalcore". But perhaps you used that word incorrectly, I never used the word in its description. The core is Black/Death metal, and with black/death metal comes unmelodic growls similar to war crys. There will always be critics of the use of it, and I by no means plan on ever making any commercial success with music. To my knowledge, this is something that hasnt been done before, a black/death metal core with distorted vocals AND even clean Armenian singing. I do come from an Armenian background, but I also come from a background of Black/Death Metal and I did not hesitate to use its elements in the song. If I will continue to do so in future projects isn't certain at this time. Whats certain is, im doing what ISNT the popular thing to do...im doing what many people might find too raw or uncommercial....but whoever does find the meaning behind it, will greatly appreciate it.
The raw growls are complemented by soft and subtle clean vocals, this is something I personally love the most in the Metal music that I listen to, so I did it with the song. I know that this will cause some people to stop listening, and if those people do indeed decide to stop listening because they dont understand the complementing features of the vocals, its probably for the better that they don't listen to the song anyhow.
I'm fairly open minded about different types of music other than metal, but indeed the core of the music is Metal....and more than that.... Black/Death Metal. Whoever likes these genres should appreciate the song....and even some people that havnt been exposed to the genres, might find a liking to it because of the Armenian elements in the song drawing them in.
What im doing here, is something different, and I know there will be critics, good and bad, this is my art, take it as you will. If you understand it...even better... if you think you want to create similar music with me or know people that would be interested, tell them to check it out... if you hate it, hate it, I never meant to create music just anyone could listen to.
Thus far **for the record** fans of Black/Death Metal appreciate the song greatly, I understand if Armenians cant get into it because of its raw aspects. Many of you people have never even heard much Black/Death Metal and understand its meaning and purpose (why some vocals are growled, etc...), but if I could just turn on but a few people to this little blend of music I have going....thats good enough for me.Last edited by IamLegend; 01-02-2005, 01:12 AM.

Hey everyone I made another song of my Armenian Folk Metal solo project... I think this is the best I've done yet, check it out if interested
"Mer Aryoonuh" Is a a song extremely influenced by Armenian folk music. In this song I experiment with such instruments as the Duduk, Armenian Woodwind instrument, and the accordion for a little extra flare. I do have lyrics for this song but I have not put them in this version, I plan on hopefully recording an acoustic folky version in the future... we'll see.
...back to the song though, the main theme I'm trying to express is, Metal is awesome as hell, but its important to remember who you are and where you come from too. To be specific about "Armenian Metalheads" I am rather dissapointed that many do not appreciate their heritage as much as they should... mixing the folk elements with Metal hopefully will help some Armenians appreciate being Armenian, and have more of a respect for Armenian music.... I would hope to also share our unique folk culture with people of all different cultures.
Please note again that I am extremely limited in my recording equipment.... my music should be listened as to the standard of a self produced demo with like.... no budget.
