Ah yes and one more thing. Is it really that difficult to type dorobo? Or, at the very least doro. There is a slight difference between an extinct bird and a thief.

moving on to the main topic here...
cool or not cool... copycats or xerox mouses...
the White Stripes are topping all the charts, and while they weren't even heard of a couple of months ago... now they're so well known that you guys are arguing about them in a forum... so chill !!

Jahannam, that doesn't make them great. Just because they top charts doesn't mean anything.

The fact is, you probably aren't exposed to classic rock to see the obvious rip off of the style. I enjoy rock nowadays as being different from that era beacuse its about progression. This is just going back to it, and like I said, a generation that is ignorant of it will never know like most young adults my age.

I didn't say their music is original... I agree with you on the "classic rocker wannabe" part... but hey... they succeeded... and yes that DOES make em great (may be not according to u)according to the people who helped them reach the top. what I mean is... if everyone thought about this the way YOU did.. no one would've listened to them, therefore they wouldn't have topped charts!

I don't know why you guys can't fathom this, but youre stating the obvious and going on in circles. I admitted in my thread that they topped music charts, but that was not the intent of my thread. Whether they made it big or not is not the question, it's obvious they did and it's obvious the people who like them have no taste really, but it's about the rip off, that's all.

                Anti-flag, AFI, NOFX?

You say they talk about how this "system" that we live in a not right.

Anti-Flag and Afi and a way to go, Both are on major labels selling them selfs out to mtv and major corporations. Nofx i have to say no comment hence i dont know who they are.

                Punk music better than classic?

Punk music was made for rebels that wanted to most crapist music on the streets. Most real punk bands didnt know how to play drums or play the bass or guitar, they did what they had to do and thats that. Punks were never better, punks were scum of society and we held that status high n' proud.

                GG allin
                Crass
                Conflict
                Dead kennedys
...those are real punk bands, ones that never sold out, because for them punk was and is still a way of life.

Exactly what did they rip from Led Zepplin? Why do you expect every new (or newly discovered) group should be playing a specific/new style? Every group has had its inspirations. The Stripes are mostly influenced by blues music, although you don't hear it in their mainstream hits. Give a listen to their 1st and 2nd albums.
