We are shopping around for car insurance and I'm hoping I can get opinions from everybody here about which ones to avoid and which ones you have had a good experience with.

Re: Need Advice On Car Insurance
Great experience with AAA. I shopped around quite a bit and for me, they had the best deals after all the discounts I get from them (good driver, multi vehicle, etc etc).
StateFarm has also been great in my experience.
Definitely shop around and get a bunch of quotes and compare all the details. But if you have tickets and points on your record, then good luck getting a decent coverage for cheapthis post = teh win.

Re: Need Advice On Car Insurance
I had to move out of Cali for school, but I didn't want to change my drivers license or registration of my car... AAA wouldn't give me an out of state rate if I didn't do that stuff and I was paying like 1400 for the year with them. So, I tried Progressive since they'll do it online and they did give me a rate for where I'm currently living w/o having to do any of that and it's like 900 for the year with them. That's different location though, so I dont know if they'd be better than AAA or other insurers for the same address.
I was happy with AAA when I was with them though.
It's not near 40 a month, but I'm pretty sure Karo's talking about liability insurance.
I've heard mixed things about Mercury... I think they give good rates for a good record, but first blemish will make them raise them a lot. I also got rear ended by someone insured by them and so did my mom a year or so later and it took them around 6 months in both cases to reimburse us for rental.
Statefarm had that huge law suit a few years back because they refused to pay out... it was with their own customer though. They weren't in the right, but the guy who sued them didn't deserve the enormous settlement (he had been drunk driving I think) he got mostly in punitive damages. They were also lost a class action suit in Illinios and had a billion dollar judgment against them for not using OEM parts for repairs. Like a good neighbor indeed.
I'm sure other insurance companies aren't much better, but these cases I'd heard of happened to be them.[COLOR=#4b0082][B][SIZE=4][FONT=trebuchet ms]“If you think you can, or you can’t, you’re right.”
