    Palestinian bakers prepare giant Kunafa



    Palestinian bakers prepare a giant Kunafa, a favorite local sweet, during an event in the West Bank city of Nablus, Saturday, July 18, 2009. Palestinian bakers made an extra-large version of the local specialty, hoping to set a record and restore this former militant stronghold's reputation at the West Bank's economic hub. Their kunafa, a mix of vermicelli, syrup and cheese, weighed 1,765 kilos (3,891 lbs) and was 74 meters (243 feet) long, with the measurements being certified by the Palestinian Standards Institute, and organizers say they'll submit the results to the Guinness Book of World Records.

    Hey, I didn't know that Armenians are acquainted with Künefe! Actually, my hometown, Antakya is famous for this dish in Turkey.

        Greeks also make something similar to kunefe and just as tasty...



        kadaifi.

        Always a little extra room left after dinner for this treat.

          Actually we call the vermicelli that "künefe" is made from as "kadayıf". Apart from künefe, there are other desserts made from kadayıf.
          I guess, tomorrow I'll go out and get some künefe

                That lady was really cute. The thing is we never put cinnamon into künefe. Instead we put some smashed pistachio on top of it before serving.

                  Yeah, she's got her own crazy recipe going on there. But I do remember putting cinnamon on Tavuk Göğsü.....mmmmmm
