- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

ANCA Calls on Armenian Americans to Help Haiti Earthquake Rescue and Relief

WASHINGTON—The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has welcomed the Armenian government’s decision to rapidly deploy a 52-member rescue team to Haiti, and has called upon Armenian Americans to help augment the work of this highly trained team by sending donations either through Armenian charities or directly to the American Red Cross and other relief organizations to support the unfolding effort to aide the survivors of the devastating earthquake that hit the Haitian capitol of Port-au-Prince on Jan. 12.

The Armenian rescue team, created in the aftermath of the 1988 earthquake that killed tens of thousands of Armenians and destroyed large portions of northeastern Armenia, will include specialists, search dogs, and advanced equipment. Tens of thousands are feared dead as a result of the Haitian earthquake, which measured 7.0 on the Richter Scale. The Armenian team has a track record of rapidly deploying to disaster sites around the world.

A number of options are available for donors, including on-line contributions to the American Red Cross (http://american.redcross.org/site/Pa...name=ntld_main) and even a texting option, set up by the Red Cross, that allows individuals to give $10 by sending the message “Haiti” to 90999 on their cell phone. To date, this mobile giving effort has raised more than $3 million for the Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.

Localy Los Angeles fire department being no stranger to earthquakes has already shipped tons of supplies and equipments (that had stored in case we get hit here) necessary for post earthquake survival such as experienced rescue teams, tent cities and water manufacturing facilities....

Haiti’s whole capitol has been leveled including government buildings, presidential palace, and penitentiaries. Aftershocks can continue for days collapsing the weakened structures making rescue efforts more dangerous. We know people can survive up to two weeks in rubble. Also without recovery of the dead, no sewage, epidemics will set in. This is a true humanitarian disaster that needs the worlds help. Red Cross is accepting cash donations.

      God be with them.

Both Haiti and Armenia had poorly constructed buildings. In San Franciso, a very similar earthquake struck that had the strength of the Spitak earthquake but it killed only 60 people while in Spitak around 25,000 people died. Stupid Soviet buildings. Even today, many of those crappy Soviet buildings are standing all around Armenia.

Willing but not Invited: Armenian rescuers still not sent to Haiti

An Armenian rescue team on standby since last Thursday, has still not deployed to Haiti, nearly a week after the devastating earthquake and massive loss of life for which some 30 other rescue teams are now on the ground.

Last Thursday Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that a 52-member team of earthquake-recovery specialists was ready to leave to lend assistance to the demolished Caribbean island country, where experts already said the “window of opportunity” had closed for finding people still alive in the rubble that used to be Port Au-Prince. Still, more than 70 survivors were found over the weekend.

Today (January 18), ministry spokeswoman Susanna Abrahamyan told ArmeniaNow that – although the Armenian team is eager to help (and in some ways repay kindness extended in 1988), in fact Armenia has not received an invitation from the United Nations, the official body administering aid to Haiti. Asked why the ministry announced that the team was going before having official clearance, Abrahamyan said that the ministry in fact announced the readiness of the rescuer team although the terms were not made clear.

The team is made up of rescuers, translators, doctors, and a dog specially-trained to find survivors or bodies – a squad for whom earthquake recovery has special significance two decades after the Spitak earthquake shattered so many Armenian families and remains a scar on the republic’s social memory.

The experience of the Spitak earthquake showed that recovery work is needed even weeks after rescue, when bodies are still being removed from wreckage.

The Armenian Office of UN said it is unaware whether the UN head office (in New York) has made a decision regarding the Armenian group

Armenia to provide $15 thousand financial aid to Haiti

Armenian Government defined today to provide $100 thousand financial aid to Haiti to overcome the disastrous aftermaths of that sort of powerful earthquake. Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan also commented on many citizens’ claims why Armenia hasn’t provided soonest aid to Haiti. Armenian PM a group of 50 rescuers was ready to leave just the other day of the quake but they didn’t leave as Haiti wasn’t ready to accept them. But there were some technical problems also. Another plan of Armenian Government to provide technical support was highly appreciated by the international organizations but as some difficulties occurred with their transmission, they recommended to provide financial aid only.

Sounds like a bunch of crooks to me. I just saw a collapsed orphanage on tv with 56 dead children under its rubble and there were only a few local mean working with their hands and no tools trying to dig them out. Miraculasly they found a survivor after 9 days still trapped under heavy rubble and after two days of knowing there were survivors there, there is still no machinery there to get them out. Armenias search and rescue squads have experience which could have saved lives here but they deny that help and ask for money instead.
