I guess US made major mistake by reporting about his death as an astronomical event of global importance. What about the rest of fanatical and/or illiterate crowds; ready to get blown-up?
What about the roots of the tree?Last edited by gegev; 05-03-2011, 05:41 AM.

Official Bin Laden Assassination Thread
It's going to be hard to take this discussion seriously with such a ridiculous title, maybe the mods could change it to something like "Official Bin Laden Assassination Thread" or something along those lines. Anyway, moving on...
Apparently there are a lot of conspiracy theorists, which doesn't surprise me given how quickly all this happened, and I can see why it looks shady. Still, I think it's more probable than not that Bin Laden was shot and killed on Sunday by US military forces, even though we don't really have all the information yet (and we probably never will). Faking something like this would be too big of a risk to take given the backlash that the administration would receive if the truth ever got out.
What irritated me this morning was this article, Was Burying Bin Laden at Sea a Mistake?.
"Runs contrary to the principles of Islamic laws, religious values and humanitarian customs," - Sheik Ahmed al-Tayeb
"Sea burials are permissible for Muslims in extraordinary circumstances," "This is not one of them." - Mohammed al-Qubaisi, Dubai's grand mufti
"It is not acceptable, and it is almost a crime to throw the body of a Muslim man into the sea," - Abdul-Sattar al-Janabi
Granted, some of the people saying these things don't actually sympathize with Bin laden, rather they are just trying to warn what kind of effect this action could have on Muslims globally. Which is kind of worse. That anyone would lose any sleep or even care enough to get even mildly irritated by how this terrible human being was disposed of is insane. I would like to get into the minds of people who would actually sit there and argue the finer details of how someone like Bin Laden should be buried according to Islamic law, and just wait to see at what point they suddenly realized ugliness of what they were doing. In any case, sea-burials are permissible by Islamic law, and that anyone would argue he deserved even more than that really does sicken me. I don't remember any of these people screaming in horror when three thousand people did not get the burial they deserved. Yet another example of how religion retards human thought. In any case, for those of you who wished we kept the body in custody longer and that the evidence wasn't simply tossed into the sea, well you know what to blame.
I should add that one positive thing I've noticed is that the people who seem so worried about the outcry are, at least so far, wrong. There has been no rioting. There has been no video of Arabs protesting in the streets, which I'm sure our media would love to show us if they had. The Muslim world has not gotten up in arms about the demise and disposal of Bin Laden's carcass. So far, it seems, the imams and mullahs were wrong and maybe a sense of human decency can prevail in all this.Last edited by Jinx; 05-03-2011, 06:08 AM.
