  • The Hookah Thread

I would like to see how many of our fellow members enjoy smoking hookah, arghile, nargila.. or whatever else you may call it. Sure, it was "popular" in Los Angeles years ago, when little kids would go to "The Spot" to smoke but I have always just enjoyed it at my own house.

I hardly ever smoke mine but I don't mind lighting it up every now and then. I was just wondering if you guys would like to share whether or not you own one. If you do, I was wondering what brands and flavors of tobacco you use, what brand of charcoal, and any tips you may have for a better smoking session.

I own a Bohemian Glass Hookah. The hose I use is the one that came with it because I can't find a better one. I don't like the hose at all because it leaks and is really cheap. I'm currently on the look for the "best" hose, something not fancy at all, something that is durable and is made for smoking, not for looks.

I currently use Al Fakher tobacco because of their wide selection of flavors and the fact that they're actual pretty good. I am considering switching to a better brand, something with a better variety in flavors. I am also on the look out for that as well. I typically smoke once a month or even less, depending on who is around me. I really need to change my hose and bowl because they're really cheap.

    Please, share.

I enjoy smoking Hookah alot, thats all I did when I was in ArMeNiA for 2 weeks. Currently I dont own one but should consider buying one since I do enjoy it. I like apple flavor & bubble gum.

Al Fakher's Coconut flavor is incredible. Not one of my friends or family wanted to try it when I first introduced it. Now, that's all they ask for.

I really havent had the chance to try any other flavors. I go to a hookah spot with my friend on ventura blvd... (not the spot) but next time I go I will tRy the coconut flavor... thanks for the heads up. It's so funny because I was never into hookah until I went to Armenia... & now I'm a regular. Do you know how much it costs to buy hookah & all the extra stuff.

          Re: The Hookah Thread

For a pretty good hookah, it's anywhere from $40-$100. A pack of tobacco which will last you a pretty long time, especially if you don't smoke much, costs around $15. You may want to buy a few different flavors, but a smaller scale, for example 50-100 grams; which cost about $5-$10. Box of charcoal is about $5, as far as I remember. Everything else, such as the hose and all the necessary pieces come with the hookah. So you're looking at around $100-$120 to get a nice start and you'll be loaded with a great hookah, some good tobacco and everything you need.

This is the hookah I own, same color too. I got this as a gift but I'm pretty sure it costs about a $100, maybe even a little less.

Looks good. But let me tell you this, if possible, go to a store and buy it. Go somewhere with a nice selection. Now, you see the silver part that connects to the green glass? Try and find a hookah that screws on instead of just sitting on it with a rubber. Mine and most other hookahs come with a rubber that just sits on top of it. If you can find one that screws, get it in an instant. The smoke is much more concealed and way better!

I can give you small tips on the hose, bowl and the rest once you get the actual hookah.

For sure. I would like to see this thread kept alive, even if not many of us smoke hookah. Any tips on what the best hose out there might be would great, or even someones favorite brand of tobacco. Anything is appreciated.
