  • Oil

Oil has recently been a hot issue in the politics sphere. Many politicians and theorists have predicted that in several years oil will reach such expensive prices that many places especially the US will be dealt with economic stand still and energy crisis. I think the US is getting a glimpse of it now with the high gas prices and energy costs. What's the best solution? What is to come? I believe that first people in the US need to drive more gas efficient cars, more small cars (cut down on the SUVs and Hummers!), and use more public transportation. Scientists should continue to study possible energy benefits from geo-thermal recourses and even water. Predictions, ideas?

    Re: Oil

The last thing we need to do is sell gas efficient cars. It's a ploy just to have a new market for cars. Gas prices rise, so buy a new efficient car. First, we need to realize why gas prices are rising and what our own government isn't telling us. We are simply being trained to be accustomed to higher gas prices; I mean, who would have thought we would be praying for $3 gas?

Oil, gas, next it will be air and being charged for breathing. Citizens, wake up.

      Re: Oil

Unfortunately the people in control of oil are, imho, impeding human progress towards alternate energies. Why? Because as long as oil is our infrastructural means for energy they continue make "lots" (read: ridiculous amounts) of money. Enough money to lobby congress to keep things the way they are and to hinder progress towards energy alternatives.

Not only that but when the liquid reserves run out guess where we will find additional crude oil reserves? Canada!! YAY!! We can trap humans into using oil for centuries to come! The difference is that the oil in Canada, and there is a insane amount, is embedded in dirt and sand and is not in a easily accessible liquid form. To separate the oil from the sand and dirt the have to process it. I believe the process is to simply steam the oil from the dirt and wa-la we have oil. They are already tapping this market which is supposed to be by all accounts endless. There are some Canadian cities where, like in Saudi Arabia, the locals are becoming millionaires "overnight". Awesome right? **sarcasm** Do the oil companies mind shortages? Heck no! They love it! Price goes up and so do their profits!

What's funny to me is listening to George W. talk about that fuel that they make from corn and in general any fuel alternatives. His financial interests are so involved with oil it makes me sick. He has no desire to help usher in an era of alternate fuels. It would be like a weapons manufacturer trying to propose peace on earth. HA!! Yet another conflicting interest of George W. since he has vested interests in Haliburton (i.e. he gets paid when an Abrams gets blown up and the military orders another one i.e. he gets paid when U.S. soldiers die). Does the war in Iraq make a bit more evil sense to you now?

Not to go OT but how can we NOT have laws in place that restrict a presidents personal financial investments that conflict directly with HUGE topics such as energy and war? I mean really ... crappy country.

        Analyze this picture closely.
There are thousands of these cites being planted all over China and Asia for the last 10 years.
Less than 5% of the Asian population have what people in the West have. They too want it all. We are for a VERY rough ride.

Now envision Western cities ... they are old and decaying.
