It's a series where they start from scratch each time with characters, setting, the world map, plot, etc... except there are reoccurring aspects in every game that are trademarks of final fantasy, namely the use of magic and espers/summons, the active time battle system, the names of the items, chocobos and moogles (these are friendly monsters in the game) and a multitude of reoccurring monsters, weapons, armour, accessories, etc...

Anyway, I started off with ff9, and I highly recommend it as a starter, try it out

Yes, Sephiroth and VII are always cited as the favorites.

Kefka's laugh is awesome. And what about his final from? Pretty crazy.

So what's your favorite non-Square video game? Mine is Ocarina of Time.

Kefka is the only character in ff6 with an audible laugh: "woot woot woot woot woot!" and he looks hilarious when he laughs slowly in that miniature character of him

But seriously, he's f***in evil and will kill or use anybody just for power, I prefer him over Sephiroth from ff7, who's usually the all-time favorite bad guy for many people. Sephiroth is a know-it-all who sees himself as a higher form of life that just goes on a manipulative kind of rampage, but Kefka is just so entertaining because he starts off as a not so influential character, screws over and manipulates a multitude of people, has total total lack of concern for the value of life, laughs all the time at the pains and misfortunes of others... And god, he even manages to destroy the world (or at least disfigure it beyond belief). You know, in some ways, he's a lot like the Joker in The Dark Knight

It's been a while. A few years at least. It was probably FFX.

    FFVI. Because of Kefka.

    Final Fantasy Thread

I noticed there was no thread on this, so here it goes

When was the last time you played one of them?
Which one is your favorite and why?
Which one's musical score is your favorite?
Who are some of your favorite all time characters?

In my case, I've been playing ff6 lately.

My favorite one is still Final Fantasy Tactics. The characters are more human than in other final fantasy games imo, as they are all embroiled in a period of political turmoil between princes, the Church and the disenfranchised knights in a setting that seems to mimic Medieval Europe very well. Of course the Zodiacs (espers) put a dramatic spin on all these all too human pursuits, and so you get a classic Final fantasy game as a result.

I also love the elaborate, very personalized battling system where you can pretty much do anything and everything to your own characters or the enemies, and as they gain experience, you can make them follow paths that lead them to customizable character classes with unique special abilities and features that they have to learn step by step. You can poach monsters and turn them into items, you can collect treasures and view areas that seem to have connections to other final fantasy games and it plays an interesting reference to how much the world can transform after eons pass, with humans still around with the reoccurring presence of magic.

My favorite musical score is probably the one for Final Fantasy Tactics

My favorite characters are Cloud, Reno and Rude (ff7), Ramza, Delita (fft), and Kefka (ff6, though I haven't finished the game yet)
Working...
