In my high school government class last year, we had an essay on interpreting the US constitution as an economic document, and it mainly is. Before hand however, during the articles of confederation period, states were actually more like countries and pretty much liked it that way. But due to the constitution they ended up merging as one nation, instead of being a band of “unified” nations.
So now that all these countries in the EU are bound by common laws, and (mostly) bound by common currency, and will one day most likely have a unified EU army, will these countries end up merging into one super state? or are they so divided by culture, language, etc, that it'll never happen? America at one time also had large amounts of German, French and other foreign language speakers, however the use of those languages died out in the 1900’s especially with German and the 2 world wars
